I'm still waiting to see if the white woman who started all of this mess was the one adult that was arrested, but I won't hold my breath too long -- held it long enough! It seems that the individual arrested was a 18yr old attempting to talk to the girl that was taken down, telling her that he has called her mother. He was arrested for interfering with an officer and avoiding his own arrest. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

HOWEVER, what makes decent police officers continue doing their job when incidents such as this occur? You sure are busy this morning. Must be easy to make short responses to every current thread. |

Well the article said one of the families is planning to file assault charges against the white women who started with the racist comments and then the fight. Perhaps she will be arrested afterwards? But yeah, best not to hold your breath for that long, or you'll probably die of asphyxiation :( |

I'm pleasantly surprised no one got killed. Miles Jai Thomas who was at the pool party speaks out -- http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/07/texas-pool-party_n_7530502.html And, then we have this -- http://www.buzzfeed.com/davidmack/texas-police-officer-suspended-after-pulling-weapon-on-teens?bftw&utm_term=4ldqpgc#.ejlwRe286 I'm still waiting to see if the white woman who started all of this mess was the one adult that was arrested, but I won't hold my breath too long -- held it long enough! I'm pleasantly surprised no one got killed. Which really is kinda sad, when the expectations are set so low that 'not killing people' means they are getting surpassed. Either way, this is still a terrible incident. Barging into a pool party and starting to go after a bunch of teens (of course only the non white ones) with overwhelming force. |

HOWEVER, what makes decent police officers continue doing their job when incidents such as this occur? Except for the ones who think they are Judge, QC's & jury. Actually slapped one down on Friday afternoon & there was no comeback on me. Details in the Rape thread after the case is over :-) |

wow Janne only 4 cows for a AK-47 In Mogadishu, Somalia in 2012 it only cost 250 USD for one. Now the kenyans can get a AK-47 for only one cow and a calf... |

HOW MUCH FOR A KALASHNIKOV? http://prospectjournal.org/2011/12/08/how-much-for-a-kalashnikov/ So, how much for an AK in Syria? Interestingly, the $2,500 price reported by my professor’s Syrian friend is actually abnormally high. AK-47s are typically much cheaper simply because so many have been produced that even the high demand doesn’t overwhelm the supply. Out of the 100 million AK line rifles manufactured, only one tenth were legally produced in Soviet arms factories or under license — the rest are unlicensed locally produced copies. The wide proliferation of locally produced AK variants have dramatically lowered their retail prices around the world. For example, in small rural Kenyan town in 1986 an AK could be purchased for 15 cows. By 2005 the price had fallen to four cows. |

Adjust for inflation to find that answer. I did ! How much does a brand new car cost ? more than 1/2 a month pay mate . Or a horse ? A horse was expensive , feed , stable , horse shoes are all up keep and would have cost more than bullets or a gun witch would have been a one off expense and bullets would only need to be bought when you ran low . So they where cheap . EDIT: you would need to buy a saddle and they are very expensive even at today's prices

Punched & kicked while handcuffed? "GMP and Manchester Airport both say that he is not a member of their staff." So why didn't the police arrest that man? "The passerby claims he was told to stop filming after one of the men was seen to be aiming a kick at the arrested man's face. The passerby said: 'I was told to stop filming because it was a private building and for security reasons.'" So that makes the assault legal does it? Edit: - HOWEVER, what makes decent police officers continue doing their job when incidents such as this occur? Judge tells policeman "It is a pleasure to set you free" It really is time that the CPS gets reformed. Many within that organisation need Cameron's "Dyno-rod" placed where it would do some good. |

They were not cheap. My google source listed a brand new Colt .45 Peacemaker at $17.00 US dollars in 1873. That same source also stated that cowboys were paid $1.00 US dollar a day. So you are talking about a cowboy shelling out over a half a months pay. Adjust for inflation to find that answer.
Old James |

I wonder why it's called Peacemaker and why so many civilians used it... I just finished reading it. That was the kings going into a baroom with guns allreadt drawn. That is not the same as two men standing in the street facing each other waiting for the other to draw. And Glenn dont rely on hollwood to learn truth. If you want a definetive account on the OK Corral look up, Massad Ayoob, He writes about historical gun fights in the US.
Old James |

May 11: Kelvin Goldston (Black Male, 30): wanted felon, hit a police officer with his car (remember, vehicle = deadly weapon) while fleeing arrest. That seems to be the exception in the struck by vehicle class, the others I clicked on were all ordinary traffic accidents.

And no one is shooting. That figure (470) is misleading and incomplete. It is misleading because it *includes* people using firearms to commit crimes of violence who were shot and killed by police responding to the incident. Case in point: Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi on May 3rd in Garland Texas. Simpson and Soofi drove into the parking lot at an art exhibition/contest in Garland, Texas, exited their vehicle, and opened fire on a police officer, wounding him. They were then shot dead. They are ON the list, even though the police officers acted totally properly in doing so. Another case in point: The Bandidos/Cossacks criminal biker gang war in Waco, Texas on May 18th that left 9 dead and 18 wounded. Four of the nine dead were shot and killed by police responding to the incident in proper performance of their duty. Why are they left OFF the list? But, that aside... Let us look at the numbers. 470 people so far this year (2015). That works out to somewhere around 1000 people a year. In a nation of over 300 million. 300,000,000 divided by 1000.... That works out to 1 out of 300,000 people killed by police per year, MOST of which are totally justified. This figure is not very large at all, considering that most of the incidents were justified. Let us examine the data from that website filtering it for Texas and May 2015. May 3: Elton Simpson (Black Male 30) shot by police when he attacked an art exhibition and had already shot a police officer. May 3: Nadir Soofi (Asian/Pacific Islander Male, 34) shot by police when he attacked an art exhibition and had already shot a police officer. May 11: Kelvin Goldston (Black Male, 30): wanted felon, hit a police officer with his car (remember, vehicle = deadly weapon) while fleeing arrest. May 21: David Gandara (Hispanic/Latino Male, 22): Armed man at a children's daycare facility. Police shot him when he went for his gun. May 25: Cassandra Bolin (White Female, 31): At the end of a 5 hour standoff, she was shot and killed by a SWAT sniper when she pointed a gun at other police officers. That is all 5 that that website lists for Texas in May 2015. All 5 were totally justified use of force by police. Yes, there ARE cases where a police officer goes apesh*t and uses deadly force on an individual when it is NOT justified. But, that is rather rare. MOST uses of deadly force by a police officer are justified. What exactly is the problem? |
