I AM GOD, they gave me a badge! So aren't police officers accountable to the public? Reality Internet Personality |

Shot 8 times in the back after stopping for an allegedly broken tail light. Cop originally claimed that he felt threatened, but after video surfaces showing him shooting a man in the back, he is fired from police force. I AM GOD, they gave me a badge! But the part in the video where he tampers with the evidence shows a consciousness of guilt. If that video wasn't recorded by a non-officer so it could not be suppressed .......

Actually, if you speak to Police Officers, most want videos. NOT Defense Lawyers, of course. That of course depends on if they (the police) are the defendant.

Interesting report Perhaps a few more incidents on video and the training standard of shoot first, plant evidence later will get revised.

Interesting report It does make one think about modern technology... ..Will the time come where police officers hesitate to shoot due to all the controlled & uncontrolled surveillance out there, which then costs them or an innocent bystander their lives? |

First get beaten by cops ..... Personally, I would be more afraid of the lawyers than the police officers when it comes to having my rights violated. But, that is just my own opinion. YMMV, SSFD. |

First get beaten by cops ..... Then have your shyster rip you off http://westsidetoday.com/2015/03/19/l-a-federal-judge-in-chp-beating-case-calls-lawyer-exploitive/ A Los Angeles federal judge today blasted the fees charged by an attorney for an emotionally troubled woman who was beaten by a California Highway Patrol officer on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway as “exploitive.â€

Ah, the one shot myth ..... Thats one reason the US army went back to the .45 caliber after the Moro expierance in the Phillipens. Its also why the US military is complaining about the 9MM now. Becuase the Geneva convention outlaws hollowpoint ammunition. Grenades and artillry shells are Ok to shred human flesh, But using an effective bullet to save your ass in combat is not? Its idiotic. The miltary has to use ball ammo. Id rather use .45 ball then 9 MM ball. I would hope that at some point in the sorry history of us humans, Is that we dont need to kill each other. Yeah like that will ever happen:( [/quote]Old James |

I see that you're still making posts that you don't like being made by others Clyde. ;-) Ever heard of the word "hypocrite"? Or even what it pertains to? It doesn't really matter anyway, just keep up the comedy relief buddy so we can keep on laughing. ;-) Cheers. |

Five shots at "point-blank-range" into homeless man. :-O Well as to the number of shots in that post was made by my copper mates (but I have to thoroughly agree with them). As to experience, I'm quite familiar with the damage made by bullets (.22 all the way to .470 cal) and shotguns can do to feral animals ranging from rats/rabbits all the way up to water buffalo. Now having a ton of angry water buffalo charging at you certainly gets the juices running, but 1 shot is still enough to drop them in their tracks. Sorry, but I (and many others in more civilised countries) can only view these incidents as over the top "wild west shoot 'em up" actions and until you people over there start to change your gun mad culture it'll just keep being seen as such. Now what if 1 of those cops involved were hit by a ricochet in those close quarters? But then again you'd probably just shrug that off as bad luck I guess. :-( Cheers. |

Case in point. I have a brother-in-law that is... I realized that you were giving it as a question, but then as I see it it may be the ONLY possible answer. |

MajorKong... That is one way, sure. But you would have to consider them more as toddlers. Things have changed since I (and I think you too) was/were a child. Children (especially older children) have a LOT more rights and freedom of action today than they had say about 50 years ago when I was a child. But that still leaves the question: Even if we figure out some way to force them to accept treatment, (as you mentioned) how the unholy fark are we gonna pay for it? In the USA (and almost certainly much of the rest of the world), we spend FAR too much money protecting people from the negative consequences of bad decisions (as well as the random cases of 'sh^t happens') to be able to afford to pay for stuff that, well, we really NEED. Case in point. I have a brother-in-law that is... well... 'slow', He (he is, I think, 40) has the mental capacity of an average 5 year old. He is unable to have/hold a job, has temper issues, and requires a high level of supervision. Once his parents are unable to care for him (due to age) I have no idea what he is going to do. My wife and I can't, due to our own children, and neither is his other sister (same reason). He really needs institutional care, but as you mentioned the State institutions all got shut down, and the private ones are rather pricey. This nation does not have the money/wealth (any more) at today's price levels to take care of EVERYONE's needs and wants. So, we have to prioritize. What gets priority? Those that have screwed themselves up? Or those that are screwed up through no fault of their own (as in born that way)? |

Major, you are quite right to comment on the schizophrenia of the courts on forced treatments, where adults can not be made to be sane, but parents of children are forced to medicate. Such idiocy pervades the legal system. The country cannot continue to have skid row function as the hospital for the mentally ill.

Another case of the failed system we have for mental patients in the states. I agree, but you left out (or glossed over) an important issue. Rights. Courts have been ruling for quite some time that people could not be forced to submit to medical treatment against their will (though strangely enough, it doesn't seem to apply to children getting treatment against their parents' will -- usually over religious grounds), even *IF* the person refusing treatment has been ruled mentally incompetent. We need to do something, if for no other reason than the staggeringly high numbers of mentally incompetent among the homeless. But what? Absent a criminal conviction, it is exceedingly difficult to force the mentally ill to submit to treatment against their will, and even if it wasn't there is a distinct shortage of funds to do so with. Anyone here have any ideas on the subject? Or, are we stuck with the status quo where we have to wait until the mentally ill commit a crime and hope they can get some help while in prison? |
