That was a quick answer.
I meant "But they do not affect the global climate" that I have corrected in previous post.
Asking Trump about climate and weather is of course a dead end:)
Btw. The Great Lakes, Vänern and Vättern is about 10,000 years old and was created when the ice melted after the last Ice Age.

...why there is a Great Lakes Climate https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/sose/glwx/glwx_module3_summary.html
Area Sweden 173,860 sq mi
Area Great Lakes 94,250 sq mi
They are big!

The massive Lakes act like heat sinks that moderate the temperatures of the surrounding land, cooling the summers and warming the winters. The lakes also act like giant humidifiers, increasing the moisture content of the air. In the winter, this moisture contributes to heavy snowfall known as “lake effect” snow.

The Baltic Sea (it's not part of the Atlantic and you can drink it's water if you like. In moderation) was also created after the last Ice Age with an area of 146,000 sq mi and changing the local climate around it, cooling the summers and warming the winters.
And contributes to heavy snowfall here in Sweden as well due to the “lake effect” when the wind is coming from the east.

To me that is a zero-sum game.
And compare that to the surface of the whole world with an area of 196,940,000 sq mi.
The Great Lakes and the Baltic Sea are very tiny compared to that.

The US National Academy of Sciences and The Royal Society have released “Climate Change: Evidence & Causes,” a new publication produced jointly by the two institutions. Written by a UK-US team of leading climate scientists and reviewed by climate scientists and others, the publication is intended as a brief, readable reference document for decision makers, policy makers, educators, and other individuals seeking authoritative information on the some of the questions that continue to be asked. The publication makes clear what is well-established and where understanding is still developing. It echoes and builds upon the long history of climate-related work from both national academies, as well as on the newest climate-change assessment from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It touches on current areas of active debate and ongoing research, such as the link between ocean heat content and the rate of warming.

Climate change: Report warns of growing impact on US life - BBC News November 24, 2018
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46325168

Unchecked climate change will cost the US hundreds of billions of dollars and damage human health and quality of life, a US government report warns. "Future risks from climate change depend... on decisions made today," the 4th National Climate Assessment says.

The report says climate change is "presenting growing challenges to human health and safety, quality of life, and the rate of economic growth". The White House has been accused of trying to bury the report by releasing it on Black Friday - the unofficial start of America's Christmas shopping season.

Climate change: Where we are in seven charts and what you can do to help - December 2, 2018
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-46384067

"The UN has warned the 2015 Paris accord's goal of limiting global warming to "well below 2C above pre-industrial levels" is in danger because major economies, including the US and the EU, are falling short of their pledges.

But scientists at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - the leading international body on global warming - last month argued the 2C Paris pledge didn't go far enough. The global average temperature rise actually needed to be kept below 1.5C, they said. So how warm has the world got and what can we do about it?"

I wonder how many knows that the 2C level has already reached many parts of the Arctic.
https://news.yahoo.com/siberian-region-fights-preserve-permafrost-planet-warms-041714137.html
Average temperatures in Yakutsk have risen by 2.5 degrees Celsius over the past decade, say scientists at the Melnikov Permafrost Institute.
As an Arctic country, Russia is warming about two-and-a-half times faster than the rest of the world.
Russia's environment ministry said in a report this year that deterioration of permafrost poses many risks to people and nature.
It affects water, sewage and oil pipes as well as buried chemical, biological and radioactive substances, the report said.
Melting permafrost enables any pollutants to spread faster and more widely, seeping through previously solid ground, the report said.

Trump the Genius from Karlstad again.
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1071454998414921728
Very sad day & night in Paris. Maybe it’s time to end the ridiculous and extremely expensive Paris Agreement and return money back to the people in the form of lower taxes? The U.S. was way ahead of the curve on that and the only major country where emissions went down last year!
Doesn't Trump know that in China there are lot of people living there?
It's true that the US emissions has went down but the US has a long way to match China's or EU's emissions per capita.
And China's emissions has also went down.

Trump the Genius from Karlstad again.

Apparently Trump's grandfather and then Trump's father started their false Swedish family history because they didn't want their Jewish friends and business associates to distrust the Trump's during Nazi Germany and after WW2.

So much for many beliefs that family's have about their history.

BTW: Trump's mother's side is the Outer Hebrides Scotland.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Meanwhile:(
Russia, the United States and China and other countries have started an arms race in the Arctic because the ice is melting.
They want to secure access to oil, gas, minerals, fairways and therefore increasingly operate with military resources.
The tensions increase in the Arctic due to warmer climate.
"We see an increase in military presence, especially on the Russian side," says Ekaterina Klimenko, Stockholm's International Peace Research Institute, Sipri.
https://www.svt.se/nyheter/utrikes/kapprustning-i-arktis-nar-isen-smalter
The "other countries" is of course Denmark, Norway and Canada but I doubt that Denmark and Norway are operating in the Arctic with military resources.

I imagine that since the compelling argument "It's cold in the winter. Climate change denied!" isn't convincing anyone, you could try "It's hot in the winter. Climate change denied!" and see if there's any new takers.

GOoD BRAIN. REAL GOoD BRAIN

https://quillette.com/2019/02/27/why-renewables-cant-save-the-planet

.....What is to be done? The most important thing is for scientists and conservationists to start telling the truth about renewables and nuclear, and the relationship between energy density and environmental impact.

.....But it's high time that those of us who appointed ourselves Earth's guardians should take a second look at the science, and start questioning the impacts of our actions.

Too bad it's probably only temporary...
https://apnews.com/b19abfb0a0534b51925aa121806255a8
While this is “good news” on a temporary basis, this is bad news on the long term because it tells scientists that ocean temperature is a bigger player in glacier retreats and advances than previously thought, said NASA climate scientist Josh Willis, a study co-author. Over the decades the water has been and will be warming from man-made climate change, he said, noting that about 90 percent of the heat trapped by greenhouse gases goes into the oceans.

“In the long run we’ll probably have to raise our predictions of sea level rise again,” Willis said.

https://thebarentsobserver.com/en/ecology/2019/03/march-coming-end-svalbard-can-look-back-100-months-above-normal-temperatures
100 consecutive months with above normal temperatures at Svalbard
«Some months have seen temperatures in the area around Longyearbyen with as much as 12-14 degrees [Celsius] over normal,» says climate researcher Ketil Isaksen with the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
Since 1961, the average temperature at Longyearbyen airport has increased with 5,6 degrees Celsius. For comparison, measurements at the meteorological institute in Oslo show an increase of 2 degrees for the same period.
The old saying «the Arctic heats twice as much as the rest of the world» is not accurate anymore. Climate changes impact on the Arctic is worse, up to six times higher than global temperature increase.

Add to that:

Climate change: Global impacts 'accelerating' - WMO

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) says that the physical and financial impacts of global warming are accelerating.

Record greenhouse gas levels are driving temperatures to "increasingly dangerous levels", it says. Their report comes in the same week as the International Energy Agency (IEA) reported a surge in CO2 in 2018...

... This year's State of the Climate report from the WMO is the 25th annual record of the climate.

When it first came out in 1993, carbon dioxide levels were at 357 parts per million (ppm) in the atmosphere. These have now risen to 405.5ppm and are expected to increase further. This is having a significant impact on temperatures...

... 2018 Climate impacts

According to the report, most of the natural hazards that affected nearly 62 million people in 2018 were associated with extreme weather and climate events...

... "There is no longer any time for delay," he wrote in a foreword to the new study.

However earlier this week the International Energy Agency published worrying data, indicating that in 2018 carbon emissions were up 1.7%, as a result of the fastest growth in energy use in the last six years.

The UK government has also released emissions data about greenhouse gas emissions over the past year. The figures show that emissions across the UK have fallen by 3% over the last year ... Factors driving UK emissions down include the fact that coal was the source of just 5% of electricity in 2018 [replaced by wind, solar and gas]...

All a game of far too much pollution...

No time to delay... Indeed...

All on our only one planet,
Martin
