Too bad it's probably only temporary...
https://apnews.com/b19abfb0a0534b51925aa121806255a8
While this is “good news” on a temporary basis, this is bad news on the long term because it tells scientists that ocean temperature is a bigger player in glacier retreats and advances than previously thought, said NASA climate scientist Josh Willis, a study co-author. Over the decades the water has been and will be warming from man-made climate change, he said, noting that about 90 percent of the heat trapped by greenhouse gases goes into the oceans.

“In the long run we’ll probably have to raise our predictions of sea level rise again,” Willis said.

Meanwhile...
https://thebarentsobserver.com/en/ecology/2019/03/march-coming-end-svalbard-can-look-back-100-months-above-normal-temperatures
100 consecutive months with above normal temperatures at Svalbard
«Some months have seen temperatures in the area around Longyearbyen with as much as 12-14 degrees [Celsius] over normal,» says climate researcher Ketil Isaksen with the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
Since 1961, the average temperature at Longyearbyen airport has increased with 5,6 degrees Celsius. For comparison, measurements at the meteorological institute in Oslo show an increase of 2 degrees for the same period.
The old saying «the Arctic heats twice as much as the rest of the world» is not accurate anymore. Climate changes impact on the Arctic is worse, up to six times higher than global temperature increase.

Add to that:

Climate change: Global impacts 'accelerating' - WMO

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) says that the physical and financial impacts of global warming are accelerating.

Record greenhouse gas levels are driving temperatures to "increasingly dangerous levels", it says. Their report comes in the same week as the International Energy Agency (IEA) reported a surge in CO2 in 2018...

... This year's State of the Climate report from the WMO is the 25th annual record of the climate.

When it first came out in 1993, carbon dioxide levels were at 357 parts per million (ppm) in the atmosphere. These have now risen to 405.5ppm and are expected to increase further. This is having a significant impact on temperatures...

... 2018 Climate impacts

According to the report, most of the natural hazards that affected nearly 62 million people in 2018 were associated with extreme weather and climate events...

... "There is no longer any time for delay," he wrote in a foreword to the new study.

However earlier this week the International Energy Agency published worrying data, indicating that in 2018 carbon emissions were up 1.7%, as a result of the fastest growth in energy use in the last six years.

The UK government has also released emissions data about greenhouse gas emissions over the past year. The figures show that emissions across the UK have fallen by 3% over the last year ... Factors driving UK emissions down include the fact that coal was the source of just 5% of electricity in 2018 [replaced by wind, solar and gas]...

All a game of far too much pollution...

No time to delay... Indeed...

Martin

And all the time the Pentagon is looking at plans to defend its bases or move out of them because of global warming in the interests of National Security.

Unbelievable denial!

Or is this all very believable?

For just two examples:

YouTube: Climate Clash: Malcolm Roberts (Australian Senator) vs Brian Cox (World renowned Scientist)

Climate excerpt of the exchange between Malcolm Roberts (One Nation) and Physicist Brian Cox, Australian ABC Q&A programme...

YouTube: The disarming case to act right now on climate change - Greta Thunberg

... "wake up and change."

Note: This is all completely real, in our real world.

Completely compelling stuff.

How can we deny immediate positive action must be taken, immediately?

Unbelievable denial!

... And for continued denial:

Climate change: Is Greta Thunberg right about UK carbon emissions?

... The gases - mainly carbon dioxide - from burning fossil fuels contribute to global warming when released into the atmosphere. The UK's current target is to cut 80% of emissions from 1990 levels by 2050.

The government says greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by 42% since 1990.

But Greta Thunberg told MPs in Westminster that the true reduction was more like 10%.

Two very different figures - can both be right? It all depends...

Tracking the toxic air that's killing millions

... The World Health Organisation (WHO) says air pollution causes the death of seven million people a year and accounts for a third of fatalities from stroke, lung cancer and heart disease, with more than 90% of children breathing toxic air every day.

Until we tackle the root causes of air pollution - burning fossil fuels mainly - we can at least learn where and when it is likely to be at its most dangerous...

Deforestation: Tropical tree losses persist at high levels

Around 12 million hectares of forest in the world's tropical regions were lost in 2018, equivalent to 30 football fields per minute...

... Of particular concern is the continued destruction of what are termed primary forests. An area of these older, untouched trees the size of Belgium was lost in 2018...

... "All too often the loss of an area of forest is also associated with a funeral because every year hundreds of people are murdered when they try to stop the miners, loggers, ranchers and other commercial interests from appropriating their forest wealth - the moral imperative to act on these numbers is unquestionable and urgent." ...

Note: This is all completely real, in our real world.

Completely compelling stuff.

How can we deny immediate positive action must be taken, immediately?

Neither the UK government nor Greta Thunberg are correct.
https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/greta-thunbergs-vag-fran-skolstrejkande-15-aring-till-ikon
The fact that Greta Thunberg previously worked with PR expert Ingmar Rentzhog has also created headlines.
The collaboration ended by the 16-year-old when Ingmar Rentzhog, who is considered a key player in the debate, acknowledged that his company used Greta Thunberg as a drawback for a new issue which attracted over ten million kronor to one of his company.

Reading through that article, I do not see your connection for your quote. Do you have other numbers?

Note that the numbers given are correct as best they can be correct. The political 'game' is all a game of what to count and what not to count and what to 'blame' on others...

Note for further comment from your article:

... Neither Thunberg's age nor commitment is a problem, on the contrary. It is about how adults handle this and try to make use of her to emphasize themselves and capitalize politically or economically at the expense of her...

Also:

Greta Thunberg herself rejects the criticism in an SMS to Expressen:

“There is no single organization or person behind me. There has never been anyone who told me what to do or what to say ".

As mentioned, the discussion is not new and Malena Ernman has previously defended her daughter against this kind of criticism:

"Greta has no one and has never had anyone" behind "her. She did all the planning herself completely. Last month she has received voluntary, ideal help to handle all international press requests. Otherwise she has definitely not at any time had any help or support from any PR agency, ”she has written on Facebook...

... However, one thing is certain - today the 16-year-old is an icon for a growing environmental movement in change...

(All by the power of Google Translate :-) )

I have some problem with the sudden media attention to her.
And I get some feeling she's being used.
I hope she's not though...

Malcolm Roberts is our version of a far right nutter, thankfully the party that he belongs to only has a 4% support figure, and then we also have Fraser Anning who's also out of a similar mold (but with even less support). :-(

Cheers.
