The Baltic Sea (it's not part of the Atlantic and you can drink it's water if you like. In moderation) was also created after the last Ice Age with an area of 146,000 sq mi and changing the local climate around it, cooling the summers and warming the winters.
And contributes to heavy snowfall here in Sweden as well due to the “lake effect” when the wind is coming from the east.

To me that is a zero-sum game.
And compare that to the surface of the whole world with an area of 196,940,000 sq mi.
The Great Lakes and the Baltic Sea are very tiny compared to that.
