The air above large expanses of water acts differently than above land, often with weird circulations where they meet. Remove that water and you affect the local weather which then affects the global weather.Yes. But the Aral Sea example is not an example of the Butterfly effect. And that the Aral Sea would somehow affect the Global Warming is very farfetched. However the Artic and Antartic regions does! But since most politicians doesn't live there. Who cares(: |

They do affect the weather around the lakes, just as Vänern and Vättern does over here. The air above large expanses of water acts differently than above land, often with weird circulations where they meet. And that the Aral Sea would somehow affect the Global Warming is very farfetched. But they do not affect the global climate. There is a difference between global climate and local climate. This is the effects of global warming! https://thebarentsobserver.com/en/arctic/2018/10/thawing-permafrost-troubles-longyearbyen |

But they do, that is why there is a Great Lakes Climate https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/sose/glwx/glwx_module3_summary.html Area Sweden 173,860 sq mi Area Great Lakes 94,250 sq mi They are big! |

That was a quick answer. I meant "But they do not affect the global climate" that I have corrected in previous post. Asking Trump about climate and weather is of course a dead end:) Btw. The Great Lakes, Vänern and Vättern is about 10,000 years old and was created when the ice melted after the last Ice Age. |

...why there is a Great Lakes Climate https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/sose/glwx/glwx_module3_summary.html The massive Lakes act like heat sinks that moderate the temperatures of the surrounding land, cooling the summers and warming the winters. The lakes also act like giant humidifiers, increasing the moisture content of the air. In the winter, this moisture contributes to heavy snowfall known as “lake effect†snow. The Baltic Sea (it's not part of the Atlantic and you can drink it's water if you like. In moderation) was also created after the last Ice Age with an area of 146,000 sq mi and changing the local climate around it, cooling the summers and warming the winters. And contributes to heavy snowfall here in Sweden as well due to the “lake effect†when the wind is coming from the east. To me that is a zero-sum game. And compare that to the surface of the whole world with an area of 196,940,000 sq mi. The Great Lakes and the Baltic Sea are very tiny compared to that. |

International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - Fifth Assessment Report on Global Warming (2018) http://www.ipcc.ch/report/sr15/ An IPCC special report on the impacts of global warming of 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways, in the context of strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change, sustainable development, and efforts to eradicate poverty.A major new IPCC climate report slams the door on wishful thinking - Oct 7, 2018 https://www.vox.com/2018/10/5/17934174/climate-change-global-warming-un-ipcc-report-1-5-degrees US National Academy of Sciences & The Royal Society - Climate Change: Evidence and Causes http://nas-sites.org/americasclimatechoices/more-resources-on-climate-change/climate-change-evidence-and-causes/ http://dels.nas.edu/resources/static-assets/exec-office-other/climate-change-full.pdf The US National Academy of Sciences and The Royal Society have released “Climate Change: Evidence & Causes,†a new publication produced jointly by the two institutions. Written by a UK-US team of leading climate scientists and reviewed by climate scientists and others, the publication is intended as a brief, readable reference document for decision makers, policy makers, educators, and other individuals seeking authoritative information on the some of the questions that continue to be asked. The publication makes clear what is well-established and where understanding is still developing. It echoes and builds upon the long history of climate-related work from both national academies, as well as on the newest climate-change assessment from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It touches on current areas of active debate and ongoing research, such as the link between ocean heat content and the rate of warming. Apr 3, 1999 - May 3, 2020 |

Climate change: Where we are in seven charts and what you can do to help - December 2, 2018 https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-46384067 "The UN has warned the 2015 Paris accord's goal of limiting global warming to "well below 2C above pre-industrial levels" is in danger because major economies, including the US and the EU, are falling short of their pledges. #environment #climate #climatechange #globalwarming #science Apr 3, 1999 - May 3, 2020 |

I wonder how many knows that the 2C level has already reached many parts of the Arctic. https://news.yahoo.com/siberian-region-fights-preserve-permafrost-planet-warms-041714137.html Average temperatures in Yakutsk have risen by 2.5 degrees Celsius over the past decade, say scientists at the Melnikov Permafrost Institute. |

Trump the Genius from Karlstad again. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1071454998414921728 Very sad day & night in Paris. Maybe it’s time to end the ridiculous and extremely expensive Paris Agreement and return money back to the people in the form of lower taxes? The U.S. was way ahead of the curve on that and the only major country where emissions went down last year!Doesn't Trump know that in China there are lot of people living there? It's true that the US emissions has went down but the US has a long way to match China's or EU's emissions per capita. And China's emissions has also went down. In 2016 http://edgar.jrc.ec.europa.eu/overview.php?v=CO2andGHG1970-2016&dst=CO2pc&sort=des9 USA 15.6 ton CO2/cap China 7.4 ton CO2/cap EU 6.8 ton CO2/cap |

Meanwhile:( Russia, the United States and China and other countries have started an arms race in the Arctic because the ice is melting. They want to secure access to oil, gas, minerals, fairways and therefore increasingly operate with military resources. The tensions increase in the Arctic due to warmer climate. "We see an increase in military presence, especially on the Russian side," says Ekaterina Klimenko, Stockholm's International Peace Research Institute, Sipri. https://www.svt.se/nyheter/utrikes/kapprustning-i-arktis-nar-isen-smalter The "other countries" is of course Denmark, Norway and Canada but I doubt that Denmark and Norway are operating in the Arctic with military resources. |
