OMG! Just fell off my chair :-) Just finished reading a report & there is one comment that just has to be placed in the history books :-)
"Another climate change myth shattered. All that effort to cut CO2 production, now there’s a shortage of the stuff."

But they have a fair point. How have we allowed ourselves to get into a position where so much of our food chain is critically dependent on somebody else's by-product - with no control over the supply?

I hope the food 'industry' - if there is such a thing, rather than independent non-collaborative companies - put some urgent planning into alternative sources of supply. Why not use atmospheric extraction?

I don't understand the problems at breweries, Isn't CO2 a byproduct of the fermentation process.

Back to thread subject, I read somewhere this week, but now cannot remember where, that the last time the worlds CO2 levels were this high the oceans were a 100 ft higher. That would put many places underwater, including Clyde's present state.

There is climate and there is weather.
Well this weather here is getting hot.
Our last May doesn't happen in more of 3 times in a million year according to scientists.
And it looks like June will be the same.

And local councils should plant trees and keep green spaces to provide cool air.

The BBC article doesn't describe climat change issues, only environmental problems with cotton production.
Especially what happened to the Aral Sea in Khazakstan and Uzbekistan.

So you think that one cannot affect the other?

Not in this case.
The Aral Sea was once the world’s fourth largest lake, home to 24 species of fish and surrounded by fishing communities, lush forests and wetlands. While the lake was salt water, the rivers that fed it were fresh water. In the 1950’s the Soviet Union began using the rivers to irrigate the surrounding agricultural area, a process that has been continued to this day by Uzbekistan’s brutal dictator Islam Karimov.
A global warming will of course make these problems even worse, but not contributing so much as to what happened to the Aral Sea.

Not in this case.

The air above large expanses of water acts differently than above land, often with weird circulations where they meet. Remove that water and you affect the local weather which then affects the global weather.

Climate is the statistics of weather over long periods of time. It is measured by assessing the patterns of variation in temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, precipitation, atmospheric particle count and other meteorological variables in a given region over long periods of time.

The Ocean: A driving force for weather & climate

Man is certainly doing his best to destroy life.
