Angela won't let me get into bed tonight until I post a Tech News update. This is going to be a short update because it is late and I am tired. The reason for the long outage today was that our backup database machine crashed over the weekend and we decided that it was easier to restore that machine from a new backup of the primary database than to try to recover the data and replay a the database logs to the backup. It never quite works out when you do that. For any guys thinking about proposing to their girlfriends this upcoming holiday season, buy that ring now. Marriage is a wonderful institution and I am so lucky to be a married man. She is making me say that. @SETIEric@qoto.org (Mastodon) |

My missus and I were quite happy without that formality for almost 25yrs that we were together (sadly she passed away far to young) without the ceremony (she'd been married before and I, and my younger siblings, never developed a taste for it. ;-) Cheers Eric. |

Thanks to Angela :) It's important to take care of the volunteers of the project. No volunteers, no business. |

Thanks for the update & to Angela for putting up all of the extra time you put in. Got to love those "This should be quick" moments that turn out to takes ages. Have you guys noticed AP workunit assimilation, and by extension purging, hasn't been occurring for a while? Wasn't sure if it was intentional or if something just went a little wonky after the validation wasn't occurring previously. Is there some problem between SETI and BOINC + allprojectstats.com. There was a major outage a few days ago at SETI, and BOINC + allprojectstats.com. are not registering my credits. Over the last several days, I am still gaining credits at SETI, but because those credits are not being recorded at BOINC or allprojectstats.com, I am falling back at both those places at an alarming rate. Apologies if this is posted in wrong place - This is my first post at SETI. If this post is moved, please advise as to where it got moved, in a private message, so I can locate it easily. Thanks from New Zealand |

None of my seti stats are appearing in boinc stats - as usual no info or news on this! I'm now devoting my processor time to other projects! |

The process that reports stats to external sites is not critical to the functioning of the project, so fixing it is probably a low priority. Rest assured that when it does get fixed, all the work you've done at Seti will be reported and your stats will shoot back up to where they should be. Suspending your work on Seti just because it's not reporting stats to other sites seems especially silly to me. Do you crunch for the credit or the science? Rest assured that when it does get fixed, all the work you've done at Seti will be reported and your stats will shoot back up to where they should be. Sure it's not essential for the project, but not that silly. Some other project's are working with that stats. Take a look at "Gridcoin" for example. In that case your gridcoin income will decrease cause of the missing credits at boincstats. Netsoft also acts as a credit checking farm, next to BOINC stats, ensuring that the credits claimed by the owner of a CPID, have the same value as what is stored in the project and later the block chain.Source: http://wiki.gridcoin.us/Proof-of-Research Kind Regards |

In that case your gridcoin income will decrease cause of the missing credits at boincstats. And I suspect you will get it back when it gets reported. This project requires endurance. |

I enjoyed the hidden msg @ the end of Eric's post. Been married for 38 years. Told her when it gets to 40 that I'm trading her for two twenties! Her response was "You're not wired for 220!" But seriously - you are all doing a great job. |

I must be among the majority of readers who missed those last few words in Eric's Post at the top of this Topic. There are interesting ways of "hiding" a message Greetings from New Zealand to all sharp-eyed readers Cheers[/color] Kerry |

Just keep doing the best job you can. Most of us know about uncontrollable limitations. Please be sure to post to Bonic once you feel you got things going again. I prefer doing work for the peeps that got distributed computing ramped up, even if I get 10 to 1 points at gpugrid, I will move back. Take care, Happy T-Day, Royce |
