Have been trying to get v7.2.42 (x64) to again upload the results of SETI@home v7 7.00 sessions, and work again with AstroPulse v7 7.04, but no luck. Have a lot of downloaded AstroPulse v 7 7.04 sessions, but have the same error, "Unsupported OpenCl runtime) for them and am unable to get my computer to crunch them. Also, all upload results for SETI@home v7 7.00 will no longer upload either. I am not a computer wizard, but will continue crunching numbers until you get a fix for me to upgrade to.

LoL, such stubbornness deserves better application.
If you already saw "Unsupported runtime" - what else do you awaiting? Do driver update! Nobody but you can do that for your PC. "Fix" can be found on AMD driver site for years...

Apparently no fix for this yet ...snip

No fixed stock-app yet. See over there at lunatics downloads for the Beta to check if the fix works ok.

I update my drivers regularly. This morning double-check returned this: Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date. Device: AMD Radeon HD 6850. The core has 12 x Intel(R) Core(TM) i7--3930K CPU @3.20 GHz. The only other AMD device in my system is an audio card. All drivers are up-to-date. Any more tactful, helpful suggestions?

It's usually better to get video drivers from the hardware manufacturer (AMD, or the specific card vendor), rather than the generic drivers from Microsoft.

The Microsoft drivers can be expected to work for the basic function of drawing images on the screen, but may not include the extra components necessary to support general-purpose computing.

Microsoft isn't the vendor who produced your GPU, they don't necessarily supply up to date drivers, and don't necessarily supply any Cuda/CAL/OpenCL support with the drivers they do supply.

The vendor who produced your GPU is AMD/ATI, use their site to determine if your drivers are up to date, and get drivers from there:

http://www.amd.com

At present Boinc reports your GPU to have CAL 1.4.1720 drivers and whatever OpenCL drivers, that equates to Cat 12.4, AMD are up to Cat 14.9:

In other words, your drivers date back to April 2012, whereas AMD released new drivers in September 2014.

Cat 12.4 driver with OpenCL from Cat 11.11. That is likely to cause trouble. Using DDU to clean the old driver & reinstalling with a installer package to have matching versions is probably your best bet.

I wonder if that is a typical result from installing the card drivers from the manufacturer's original CD, and then updating them from Microsoft update?

Like i said at Lunatics once AMD drivers always have left overs.
So if you dont use a tool or uninstalling them manually this might happen.

Claggy, Richard, Hal9000 & Mike, your insights and help in suggesting I use AMD's website to download the most current GPU driver (s) instead of relying upon Windows was the key to getting my system happily crunching away again. Thank you both for your time and patience in this matter. All 12 cylinders are firing plus the GPU again! Thanks again!

It has been noted for years that MS updates often don't work for what we do be it NV or AMD.
