After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.

In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music.

I've spent much time rocking out to AC/DC! I'm saddened by this news, but I suppose it is just a reminder that we're all subject to the same affliction: life.

Some Rock & Roll trivia that ties into my OzzFan namesake: Ozzy Osbourne has stated that his very controversial and widely misunderstood song Suicide Solution was written for AC/DC's original lead singer Bon Scott's alcohol problem. He said that the word 'solution' as it appears in the song title was meant with the alternative meaning "liquid" and not "answer to a problem" as many tend to interpret it. Ironically, this did nothing to wake Ozzy up to his own alcohol addiction that cost him so much.

At any rate, I've seen the effects of demetia first hand and it is disheartening to witness. I'm sure his brother Angus will make sure Malcolm gets the best possible care.

Makes me even more upset that I missed that AC/DC concert back in 2006! Now I'll never have a chance to see that lineup again. :-(

I saw them once, back in 1997, I think... with my mum:) I was literally deaf for three days afterwards!:))) Heard those guys wear earplugs when they're giving a concert...

For all at the facility.
Let's rock.

I've got 110 of their songs and there's not a bad 1 amongst them.

Cheers.

I also saw them in the 70's, with my brother (who also went to the same school in Ashfield, NSW) in Yeovil, Somerset.....the 'Lock-up Your Daughters' tour (still got the badge, too). I next saw them at Monsters of Rock, at Donington in 1981(?).

Bagpipes! It is an instrument too underestimated by many:)
Angus Young was born in Scotland. Homesick?

No, no!! NOT getting old :)

The last great super-group were Guns 'n' Roses. It's been 25 years and I'm still waiting for someone to come along and fill their shoes!

('Some might say' Oasis, but you can't rock-out to the Gallagher bros)
