Julie he deserves what his heaped upon him. And much of it, Is his own doing. The man has no foreign policy. And not one of his lackeys know what do either. The ones that did left the sinking ship. He is twice as bad as Carter ever was. And the worst part is the bozo still has 2 years to go. [/quote]Old James |

Just a thought. You know he could stop shoveling it up on his shoulders, but being from the Chicago Politician School of Olfactory Delights, I don't think he knows how to stop.

Just a thought. Who do you refer to, Julie? Former U.S. President Carter (D - Ga.) who at 90 years old still spends much of his time physically building houses for poor people (Google 'Habitat for Humanity')? Or Current U.S. President Obama (D - ??) who has spent his time in office doing a good job of making the mess that Dubya left us worse? If ANYONE has a RIGHT to criticize Obama's job, I would think it would be Carter, the oldest living former President who is from the same political party as Obama. |

Just a thought. Carter 'Putting Down' Obama? Always thought of Obama as Carter II. But Obama has proven worse. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. --- George Santayana Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. --- Lord Acton |

http://www.star-telegram.com/2014/10/07/6182968/carter-unhappy-with-obamas-policies.html?rh=1 A good read. The portion of the news story on topic for this thread: FORT WORTH -- Former President Jimmy Carter put down his hammer at a Meadowbrook Habitat for Humanity project Tuesday for a wide-ranging interview that touched on subjects such as the Obama administration’s use of drones, women’s rights and faith. |

Gary that is not true your still buying oil from the middle east just not as much because as you say your stuffing up Canada now and ruining there pristine environment. Totally not true, the Canadians are doing the tar sand mining and if we don't take it they will sell it to China. That position has been publicly explored up there. |

Glenn, are you asking about me personally or the USA in general. Personally I'm buying Canadian extraction and pipeline. As to what goes in my car, here in LA sitting in the middle of a huge oil field with refineries, I'd wager better than 95% of it comes from US crude. As to the USA http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-07-04/u-s-seen-as-biggest-oil-producer-after-overtaking-saudi.html

Kong if you did that the iternational oil price would dive and then you may find that all that oil in Canada may just stop because it needs to be above $70 to be profitable and the oil company's need it to be above $80 so they can expand the tar sands and make more . Glenn.... You are totally correct. It is called the 'Base Price' (will never go below) of Crude Oil. The higher the 'Base Price'. The more oil available. So not a good idea for America but hey we don't mind cheaper oil so go for it

17% of the USA's oil comes from the Middle East. Oil is an International Effort. Which is transported around the world, from many different places, regarding locations of Refineries, and Consumer's. The Mid-East Oil, imported into The US, is replacement for other oil, much of it from Alaska, to other markets and refineries. The 17% is not a need. 17% of the USA's oil comes from the Middle East. Uhh... no. The 17% figure goes up and down. Last data I see says its about 22.7% (July 2014)... BUT that is not '%' of our oil in total... that is '%' of our IMPORTS. We are importing about 9.7 million barrels per day, of which only about 2.1 million barrels per day comes from the Persian Gulf region. http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_move_impcus_a2_nus_ep00_im0_mbblpd_m.htm Our use of oil per day in 2013 was about 18.89 million barrels. http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=33&t=6 So, the percent of our oil that comes from the 'middle east' is only about 11%. If we had to do without it, sure it might be a small problem in the short term. But our own production is ramping up, despite the best efforts of the Obama administration to stop it. Any pain to our economy would be short term. I am highly tempted to say 'go for it!' and stop importing mid-east oil. We don't really need it. |

17% of the USA's oil comes from the Middle East. This thread seems to have interchanged with the Middle East timebomb thread! This thread was supposed to be specifically about ISIS and the other one about general Middle East matters. They could almost be merged now .... |

So Gary why you buying your oil from the middle east ? Bin laden was a Saudi Arabian also ? I'm buying my oil from tar sands in Canada. http://uit.guggenheiminvestments.com/uit/fund/ccrtex/holdings I didn't know Bin Laden was selling oil. Learn new things every day.
