Well, you know me and animals. I was a total blubbering wreck after she slipped away at the vets, and the staff had to let me out the side door with the basket, to avoid going through the waiting room, and it wasn't much different with the burial this morning in the garden. But I did what I have always done for all the cats over the last 30 years here, picked a rose from where she liked to sunbathe and put it with her. I'd like to think she was looking down and appreciated the gesture, but I will never know, it gave me comfort anyway.

I like to think so too, and if she is, then she most certainly appreciated it :)

We still have 10 year old Hettie, the black & white female we inherited from an old lady that couldn't keep her any more. She of course is wondering where the other one is, but they never did get on very well though. Another 4 or 5 years .....

Thank you for all your kind thoughts, it is much appreciated. I just feel I'm getting too old for all this raw emotion, you'd think it would get easier over time, but it doesn't seem to. I would have the guts to give the armed forces an order for combat if I had to, yet I can fall apart at the seams over a cat. A long beer o'clock today :-)

Awww Chris :( I blub like a baby when I step on a snail - and that's not even the one's I've developed personal relationships with (don't ask :/ poor things tend to go round and round in circles after the introduction) and mess doesn't even begin to describe what I'm like over a lost pet - because they're all so much more than those two words can ever describe. They curl up so comfortably in our hearts and leave them so empty and sore when they're gone :(

I am so sorry, and I hope Hettie copes okay. When it comes to the pain, anyone who has ever had the privelege to share a part of their life with a furry/scaly/feathered friend feels exactly the same about not feeling able to do it again - and yet we do.

What Donald and Celttooth said is so true... so plus LOADS to both!

And yes Celt, the insanity of it all manifests itself all the time. But that is life my friend :-)

Is it some kind of national mourning here?
My girlfriends sisters cat 20 years old passed away recently.

Some of the most classic pralines in the Aladdin box is about to be phased out. Triple-nut and cherry liqueur, which has been involved since its inception in 1939, will make way for new flavors.
The same year that World War II broke out, was launched Aladdin. Today Marabou sell 2.5 million boxes per year but even so, they choose now to change their winning formula.
Triple nut, which has existed since the 1950s, and cherries in liqueur that was in the first box will retire.

RIP Trillingnöt.

PS no condolences please. It's my birthday and I cry if I want to.

After watching a college rugby tounament this last weekend with 4 Canadian teams entered I will attest that Canadians are not necessarily polite.

May be less that $20 of silver. Silver runs about $20 and ounce but pure silver is very soft so they often mix something else in so it wears better. That is a collectors item but they have already taken all the profit out of collecting it so don't buy it unless you just like how it looks.

Weight 31.39 grams, 99.99% Silver. Do the math with whatever price of silver you wish. The quoted price for the coin is Canadian Dollars. Yes a collectors item, never intended to be used as currency for exchange.

Just a small insert here. The Canadian Mint makes
these coins up mostly for national commemorative
reasons. I believe it also has a mandate to
try to make up cost plus some sort of little extra.
LSM and I know a number of people who try with in
their budgets to collect them. For myself, I got in to
coin collecting back all those years ago as a small
child with my first weekly paper route.
