Message 1773582 - Posted: 24 Mar 2016, 0:23:19 UTC - in response to Message 1773574.

This city is the HQ of the EU & NATO. One would imagine it would be the safest city in Europe, don't you think?

I think it still is.
Like in any other city in Europe.
However attacks on public transportations by terrorists are something we now have to live with.
Question is. Can EU deal with it or should every EU nation deal with it by themself?

That belief enables more murdering of your children.

This is not a crime problem, to be stopped by police.

Perhaps I should say that we are likely to be hit again in a near future instead.
And as you say. It's not a police matter any more.
However the police are doing a great job in this case to track the terrorist down.

It is a police matter. Not the podunk hollow police force. The UN police force. The NATO police force.

When we gave armies police duties, we f'd up!

What? The UN and NATO police forces do not operate in Europe.

The only international police here in Europe is for all I know are Interpol and Europol.
But they don't have police forces.

Comparison

The referendum on June 23rd is laughable.

Where was the referendums on 2 serious treaties that affected everybody in the country - Maastricht & Lisbon?

The politicians got us in, they can get us out!

Are you sure about that?

Well. The Belgium police are divided and have very big problem to coordinate and share information between the Dutch speaking and the French speaking regions even in normal cases I'm told.

And perhaps some more blunders could have been done.
According to the Belgian intelligence sources Belkaid Mohammed, the suspected terrorist with links to Sweden last week who was shot to death by the Belgian police, might have been the commander of the terrorist cell that carried out the terrorist attacks in Paris in November and Tuesday's attacks in Brussels.
Sweden chooses to lower the threat level despite that info.

Eurovision?

Really?

Eurovision says Australia's continued involvement is an "exciting step" towards making the contest "a truly global event".

Well with Israel & now Australia contesting, shouldn't it be renamed "International Song Contest?

Something for Frau Merkel to concentrate on instead of attempting to build a superstate to surpass the USA.

1000 Germans named in Panama Papers

"The editor in chief of the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper says more than 1,000 Germans are named in the leaked Panama Papers - and they used all the major German banks. Wolfgang Krach says the banks involved included Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, HypoVereinsbank and Bayerische Landesbank.

The Munich-based paper says it was offered the leaked data from a Panama legal firm more than a year ago through an encrypted channel by an anonymous source.

Mr Krach told the Associated Press that the paper and its partners verified the authenticity of the data by comparing it to public registers, witness testimony and court rulings. "

Germans prefer Luxembourg and Lichtenstein to tax evade.
Does Jean-Claude Juncker ring a bell?

Actually I have some money "stashed away" in Luxembourg:)
And in the UK where I pay tax for it but no one call tell me how much:(

Well Done Holland.

The Dutch say "Nee" - Or should that be The Knights who say Ni :-)

The Dutch referendum was about EU enlargment.
Not about exit the EU.
The Daily Mail got something right.
Only 32 per cent of those entitled to vote cast their ballots.
If it was less than 30% the referendum would be considered as nonvalid.

Another reason why the EU needs to go : -

If the European Parliament & even EU member states can veto it, why in hell is time being wasted discussing it?

Oh dear.

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-36068892

Now there are several factors that that article doesn't take into effect and that's the biggest flaw in it.

The biggest factor is that of its citizens history to excel under pressure (but a bit of pressure wouldn't hurt it ATM).

Cheers.

Yes, such as defending themself at war.
But fighting economics?
Even Brexiteers accept that there would be some short-term costs from uncertainty, but they claim that in the long run Britain could still be better off. Most objective economic studies disagree, finding that there would be long-term costs as well.

http://www.economist.com/node/21697097

Most likely the Scandinavian EU countries economies will be affected as well :(
