That it is. Migrants now targeting Eurotunnel nightly Simple enough answer, close the damn thing down. Need to get to Europe fast then fly. The EU is proving to be nothing but trouble & it's only going to get worse. |

That it is. If they are willing to throw themselves at a high speed train, perhaps not just let them, but encourage it. One way to cut those numbers down. Stack the body parts right where they congregate. That is if the UK wants to be Donald Trump! |

Playing both ends against each other? EU Referendum Cameron on mission to SEA An interesting comment from the trade link... "As I understand it, it is illegal for an EU member state to make an independent trade agreement with a country outside the EU." It would be nice for the Europhiles here to confirm that. |

"As I understand it, it is illegal for an EU member state to make an independent trade agreement with a country outside the EU." Illegal? The EU is a party to trade agreements and other agreements with a trade component both in the WTO context and bilaterally with certain countries and regions. http://ec.europa.eu/trade/policy/countries-and-regions/agreements/ The World Trade Organization (WTO) deals with the global rules of trade between nations. Its main function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible. https://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/whatis_e/tif_e/agrm1_e.htm |

If you read the comment, it stated an individual country not the EU as a body which is what you've replied with. |

On the other hand I dont know much what's happening in Brussels. I know that Greece has a new trade agreement with Russia. Will they be punished? I Think I will jump off the EU wagon:) |

LOL - That's the problem with the EU. Many rules & regulations, but some are totally ignored, so why have them in the 1st place? Aw, there has to be something the bureaucrats have to show for their salaries :-) |

The EU idea started with the European Coal and Steel Community. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Coal_and_Steel_Community It was formally established by the Treaty of Paris (1951), which was signed by Belgium, France, West Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The ECSC was the first international organisation to be based on the principles of supranationalism,[2] and would ultimately lead the way to the founding of the European Union. I Think it was Edward Heath that lead in Great Britain into the EU 1971 or 1972. Hi hi hi:) |

Idiot Heath took the U.K. into the 'Common Market' or E.E.C., not the E.U.!!! There is a huge difference between what was voted on, by the then electorate and what is there now. I seriously doubt that many would have voted 'yes', if the electorate had been fully informed about all the implications. Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

Time flies:) 1958 formed six European countries the EEC - the predecessor of the EC (Europian Community) and the EU. As a reaction to this Denmark, Norway, Portugal, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Sweden and Austria founded EFTA (European Free Trade Association) in 1960. Finland became an associate member in 1961 and a full member in 1986. Iceland joined in 1970 and Liechtenstein, 1991. |

EU is like an "enhanced" EEC and just a different name. SSDN... Sweden held a referendum on EU membership 1994. A slight majority said yes. |

Britain joined the EEC on 1st January 1973. The national referendum in 1975 voted to continue the membership of the EEC. See. Britain want's to be an EU member. |

He can't help it, Sweden left the EFTA voluntarily to join the EU. WE DID NOT "voluntarily join the EU". |

How the EU Elitists see us peons "But Hollande fast-tracked permission for the structure "within hours" of the formal request. Genevieve Delemer, a local who has signed the petition against King Salman, said: "It's an outrage. You cant just build things like that on a public beach. Who do they think they are?"" NO IT MAYBE DOES NOT! I have NOT said that "EEC is equal to EU". Don't you read newspapers or participate in common elections or referendums? EU is NOT a political union or unity. It will probably never be... |

NO IT MAYBE DOES NOT! In that case, why don't you pop over to Berlin & tell Frau Merkel that :-) |

NO IT MAYBE DOES NOT! Frau Merkel and Germany is very much part of the problem with the EU. They want the rest of Europe to be like them. They even dont speak English in the Parliament. They have become worse than the french the last decades... Without a common language it cannot be unions. Heck, Sweden and Norway tried to be a union. That became a total disaster. |

There is a common language in use, but most of Europe don't want to use it & only do so when it suits them. It's a language in use on International Airways :-) |

There is a common language in use, but most of Europe don't want to use it & only do so when it suits them. And of the Seti forums. Oh, and the internet in general... Thanks for pointing out these threads Sirius. Looks like you've done a lot of hard work here over the years. I'll probably binge-read all of 'em someday soon, when I have the chance. I just opened your first link in this thread and though I had guestimated it was in the Hundreds of Billions... it turns out: In May, he [Juncker] stubbornly saw off a bid by EU leaders to stop such tax dodges which are estimated to cost the continent’s crisis-racked economies almost £2trillion a year in lost revenue. I also hadn't stumbled upon: While the rest of Europe suffered a financial crisis, Juncker’s domestic political career foundered as the result of another, more local, scandal. Following a scandal involving allegations about the eavesdropping and wire-tapping of politicians, as well claims that secret files had been kept on ordinary citizens since the Cold War, he was voted out of office. I swear, future generations are gonna think we were Neanderthals... |
