Good morning, Byron, and everyone. Things are ok in my neck of the woods. :~)

Hoping everyone is well on 8/8/14. Way back on 8/8/88, I used to work at AAA, making Trip-Tiks for people. That particular date, August 8th, everyone wanted a map to Eighty Eight, Kentucky, just to say they were going to 88 on 8/8. ;~}

Good morning, I have never been a morning person since I was a child in the hospital. Morning meant bad things were going to happen. They administered drugs in the morning before breakfast which then on many days made me sick. So I got in a habit of not eating much for breakfast. Then there was bathing in bed which was no picnic. And, of course, if I was scheduled for surgery that always happened in the morning too. I think that was because then the doctors would be finished by noon and could spend the afternoon on the golf course.

Fast forward to now. I have become more of a morning person. I have to get up early to take my dog outside. She goes outside and sniffs the air, the flowers and various other things. But, usually on her first visit outside she never goes potty. So we come back inside and I feed her and give her fresh water. Ordinarily I would go back to bed at this point but if I do she gets me back up about 45 minutes later to go back outside. This time she does her business if there aren't too many distractions. Then we go back inside and by the time I have checked my email and the forums it is 10:00 AM. So that is my routine now. At least I'm not old enough to be checking the obituaries every morning as one former co-worker used to do at morning break. I asked him why he did it and he stated that just in case his name was there he didn't want to get too much work done. At least I'm still alive and able to communicate. When I get to the point that communication is impossible will someone please pull the plug?

Actually, I sort of have already done so. I have a DNR order on file at the hospital I will end up in and my brother has a copy. I don't see much point in staying alive if I can't communicate and there is no hope of recovery. But hopefully that is a long way off.
