Can you run HT?
My I7 920, Will never be able to beat my I7 3770's

Edit- and I only have 3 rigs.

Vic, my 20,000 RAC is from 3 rigs each with an ATI 5850 card. All stock settings, on PC memory & processor, cards, and OEM cooling. Your PC is out performing any single one of mine.

I'm using an older video driver cause the current motherboard is crippled power wise, which is partly why My Rac is half of yours, that and I use the cuda32 files for seti, since that is all the driver supports, which are not optimized for this GTX580 gpu, though it does work.

As to the cases, I called the manufacturer and I was told the cases would be coming back in stock after the 23rd of July. I don't know when the cases will be in the retail channel, but there are things I just don't know.

To me, water and electrics/computers don't mix. I really cannot see why anyone would want to mess around with water cooling. How much more RAC would you get out of a rig by doing it anyway 5% 10%? I would have thought that it would pay in to either upgrade the chip to a faster one or get a more powerful graphics card. Mark's frozen Penny was the stuff of legends but he only did it as an experiment just to see how far in the extreme he could take it, it wasn't for RAC levels. He had 1/2 lb of silicone grease around the processor socket to protect against condensation and in the end all the pins and contacts rusted away.

Each summer I just leave the case side of a couple of my rigs if they get a bit warm, Ok that buggers the airflow up but it lets the heat out nicely! Also chips and cards have a designed MTBF which in desktop pc's isn't meant to be overclocking them to whatever nth degree and running 24/7, unless you use components designed for servers.

I remember a friend many many years ago that had a 1275cc MG Midget He had the head skimmed, double strength valve springs, upped the carbs to twin 1-3/4" SU's, straight through exhaust system etc. Basically it was Stage 1 tuned, and cost him a small fortune in time and money, and was very finicky to keep tuned. He sold it on and bought an 1800cc MGB, which went just as fast as stock! He said he enjoyed upgrading the Midget as far as he could take it but it would have been far more sensible to have bought the MGB in the first place!

All I am saying is that if people have the time, the money, and the inclination to mess around with all this up market cooling business then good luck to them, I couldn't be bothered with it. And knocking holes in ones house in the process does seem a bit extreme!

but until they get new supplies in, they are out of stock

Er, yes they would be ...

Eric's attempts at using a water cooling system were disastrous from start to finish. We kept getting algae in the tank. Yech. Also, Eric put holes in the side of the house that I had to have professionally patched.

Eric has completely given up on the idea of water cooling at this point, and I hope he NEVER reconsiders it!!!

Clear tubing promotes algae, I had the same problem here with the swamp cooler, that ended when the clear tubing was swapped out for black tubing. Any hole I made, I was able to patch, but I'm good with hand tools. 'I haven't yet begun to fight, John Paul Jones.'

@ PJ: I'm not good with a Dremel, My hands go to sleep. I tend to like small hand tools, fans are useful in some cases, like when one has a motherboard that has air cooled parts, like with aio(all in one) water coolers mounted on the cpu and gpus. Fans are also useful when one wants to extract heat from a radiator, My video card, a GTX580 Zotac Infinity uses a 1/2" thick radiator and 2 fans in push/pull, the outer fan is faster than the inner fan in cfm(148/113), both fans are Delta fans and with the swamp cooler on the video card temp is 68C while crunching Seti@Home, a thicker radiator should yield lower temps. Yes adding fans can be done, if one has the connectors, currently I'm out of ways to connect anymore 3pin fans to the psu. Oh and My cpu uses 1 fan on the Corsair H70 Radiator, currently the cpu temp there is 44.4C.

I still thank that's expensive, but, I can make custom stuff when I need to so would either buy a cheap 'box' (~$30.00) and cut it up or fabricate from scratch.
As for water cooling, I haven't been so impressed with cooling blocks surface finish or flatness (or CPU it's mating to)
Finding a flat surface and lapping base of block will help in heat transfer from CPU but other components may well overheat without fan cooling in case. Adding a couple of fans is pretty easy as long as PSU can supply enough current, Dremel with cutting wheel is slow but will work.
Probably defeats purpose of water cooling though, having fans and water block

Ok an Azza 9000B or 9000W aren't typically expensive, as they usually sell for about $169.99 at a couple of online retailers that I know of, but until they get new supplies in, they are out of stock, but I'll be notified by email by 2 online retailers, one of which is in Texas, they have good prices and sometimes free shipping too. The price I mention does not include shipping.

This case can hold a 480 Radiator in the top, a 240 Radiator in the bottom, a 120 or 140 Radiator in the back and a 240 Radiator in the front while using an EK UNI Holder 120 Liquid Cooling Mount Adapter - (EK-UNI Holder 120) or two. I picked this case cause it can house an an XL-ATX motherboard, the EVGA X79 Classified is an XL-ATX motherboard, it's the 2nd or 3rd largest form factor there is for a home PC, I think. But I'm waiting until October to buy 2 of these cases. Oh and the 9000B/W case is technically capable of holding 2 psus, though I'm not going to have more than 1 psu per PC if I can help it.

Personally I gave up buying overpriced cases years ago.
If your concerned with the aesthetics it may be a problem but otherwise just get a cheap large case and $4.99 can of spray paint in colour you like. Tape off the back panel and holes then blitz the heck out of case

Water adds weight to PC's just like it does to some people, I think this one might weigh a bit more than 60lbs, so the weight effects My lower back. Thanks, it has a bandage on the wound, it only hurt when soap was applied and then rinsed off.

Some computer cases do have sharp edges....
Thankfully, my kitties don't pay much mind to the computers.
They just walk by to get to me, their main objective..LOL.
I do have fan guards installed on all open fans to protect from inquisitive noses. But it's never been much of an issue.

Yep, fan guards do work, though I'm only using one 120mm fan guard right now. I found out that Azza should have more Genesis 9000 cases back in stock, in Black or White after July 23rd, at least that's what I'm told by people at Azzatek. So until August 1st I'll be waiting, I can see some wanting a White case, but I know hands can dirty White pretty quickly, so I'd rather have Black. White might be the New Silver...

Just as 'meow' is the new 'bark'.

Cause of the complex wiring and numerous splitters, I had to take the PC offline, clean one fan, replace another(or clean it, I just replaced it, I'll sort it later), fixed the wiring behind the Zotac Infinity gpu water pump, cause a cable was hitting a fan there(one wire had been exposed, so I carefully tucked the wire away), then made sure all remaining cables were sorted and supplied with power, the pc is noisier now, but it's a good noise.

The Zotac is doing about 71C right now, not bad for a 1/2" thick radiator, a thicker radiator will be lower in temp for the Zotac.

I cut My self somehow on My left arm, I cleaned the wound and washed up with soap and water as some of the parts had to be cleaned and were dusty, I'm tired... Good night.

No wonder you're tired! Sounds like you've been working hard. Sorry about the cut on your arm :(

Well I am happy to report that the PC is working better now since I'd changed where the fans and pumps are connected to, one fan in particular a Delta AFC1212DE is rated at 1.60A and I don't think the motherboard liked that load, ever since I got the electrical connections right, I've had no problems.

James - Most online accounts with utility companies and the suchlike, give you a discount for paperless transactions, at least they do in the UK. Its cheaper for them and cheaper for you. The further advantage is that you can pay bills on holiday around the other side of the world. Unless you are in the middle of the Sahara desert, most towns and cities will have an internet cafe or library with net access. Although having said that, rich nomads probably have Sat connections these days! If you want to pay by cheque via snailmail then it costs more to process that payment.

You are also correct in that Vic's posts give room to misinterpret them, but as he has confirmed, he does in fact pay all his bills promptly. You are also correct in that like the rest of us, Vic likes to have a nice powerful cruncher to enjoy his hobby, fair enough. He was offered a free computer which he refused, and admits that he could pay online bills just 12 miles down the road.

If he is honest, what he tried to do was to justify to himself and us, spending all his limited spare cash on bits for it, as he needed it for online bill paying, which clearly isn't now the case. However the final post which got this thread previously hidden, was an unwarranted personal attack on Vic, which has quite rightly been removed. I am glad to hear that a simple rearrangement of fan cabling has sorted the apparent problem out for him, but if he had posted in NC asking for help in the first place he might have got a quicker response and all this angst could have been avoided. But all's well that ends well.

All of my rigs are crunchers, including my daily driver.
I don't push the daily driver as hard, so it does not give me too much lack of response during my browsing and bill paying usage.

I have browsers loaded on 3 or 4 of my other rigs, so if my main one goes down I can launch a browser on one of them and am back online instantly.

Which reminds me, the one thing I should do again is make a current copy of my browser links and update it on a few other rigs.
