"Its part of our culture, to respect the rule of law." Not others, who you need to survive. Some wish to destroy Your entire culture because you are Not Them. How do you defend yourselves against Them? Who are 'them'? What country openly preaches the destruction of Western civilization? Right, no one does that. Only a bunch of extremists. And do they pose a realistic threat? Do they possess armies and the ability to conquer our lands and occupy them? No, they don't. They don't even represent a majority of people in their region or in the world. All they can do is blow up a bus or a train. Is that going to destroy our civilization and our culture? Only if we let them. In reality, their threat to us is vastly overstated by the government to justify certain policies. "Trade happens because its beneficial to both parties involved." Negative. Other peoples/cultures have other reasons. Religion, Ideology, etc., and NOT money, nor economic development. Oh, so you think people will trade anything if they think they are worse off afterwards. Sure, not everyone trades for money, but they all trade because they believe that they have gained something after the trade that they wouldn't be able to gain otherwise. So, in the end, trade happens because people gain something out of it. If they can't gain anything, there won't be any trade. If you want to use the military to force people to give up something they wouldn't otherwise give you through trade because there is nothing you can give them that they want, you are not trading anymore, you are blackmailing, shaking down and exploiting the other party. You MUST stop living, for your own survival, in your Eurocentric World. Nobody else does. Sorry, but the above wasn't Eurocentrism, just basic logic. There is nothing eurocentric about suggesting that people trade because they gain something from it, thats just basic logic, nor is it eurocentric to suggest that the threat of the dreaded 'other' is vastly overstated given the facts. |

Мишель is living in a fantasy world and doesn't understand Oil = Food. +1 Personally I'd rather invade Canada. Lot's of oil. They speak English for the most part. And their armed services consist of mostly pickup trucks. The E.U. can go to hell in a hand basket as far as I'm concerned. We have had many in the E.U. for what reason? Time to bring them people home. This next one is going to make the Spanish Moor War look like a picnic. Must not conflict resolve by suggesting that someone should go sit on an ice pick... |

Dont ever discount Russia. And the Middle East has oil. So what goes on there will affect what you pay for most commodities. The sooner we stop using oil the sooner the Middle East can eat sand and drink oil. This winter lets see what happens to Europes gas supply? Just because Russia dosent worship at the communism alter anymore, Dont think for one minute they dont want the Soviet Union's oringinal borders back. Case in point the Crimea and the Ukraine. But you go on beliveing that Russia is just all bluff. Just dont ask us to bail you out when it hits the fan. [/quote] Old James |

Just because Russia dosent worship at the communism alter anymore, Dont think for one minute they dont want the Soviet Union's oringinal borders back. Case in point the Crimea and the Ukraine. Right, except it makes no sense. Threatening to cut off our gas supply is great leverage up until a certain point. Its not some wonder tool that the Russians can use to get about everything done their way. If they overstretch their demands, not even cutting off our gas supply would work. And do you think we are completely defenseless against this threat? And Crimea? Sure, it retook a traditionally Russian province that was only given to the Ukraine when an Ukrainian was leader of the Soviet Union in the 50's. It did that because it knew it could get away with it. But to take that and say that they therefor want to reconquer, through force, the rest of Eastern Europe is just completely ridiculous. And be realistic, if America can't even handle Iraq or Afghanistan on its own, do you honestly think a military that by all accounts is in every respect inferior to the American military, is realistically capable of conquering Eastern Europe? Besides, even during the Cold War, the Russians were never really interested in conquering all of Europe. They used Eastern Europe primarily as a buffer against what they considered American aggression. They had no interest in trying to break the borders established after WW2. |

Lets face and say the truth. Russia is paranoid, probably not without reason, that other want to invade it. And therefore likes to keep a buffer between itself and others it thinks might want to invade. |

Are they preparing the helicopter landing pad on top of the US Embassy in Baghdad? That was an orderly striking of the colors in Saigon under a negotiated cease fire. The US has to play this smart and let them kill each other. US don't need Iraq oil, we have Kuwait, Canada and our own oil. The price of a gallon of gas in NJ is $3.40. This is the expensive summer price BTW. Good boOgly LooglIEY boOGly what a country. I blame Obama for there not being gas lines as there were under Nixon. |

I blame Obama for there not being gas lines as there were under Nixon. Richard Milhous Nixon was the 37th President of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1974. The 1973 oil crisis started in October 1973, when the members of Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries or the OAPEC (consisting of the Arab members of OPEC, plus Egypt, Syria and Tunisia) proclaimed an oil embargo.GoOD BoOGly GooGly it's not history if one lived it. |

Saigon? Did you mean Ho Chi Minh City? It wasn't Ho Chi Min City until July 2, 1976. It would still be Siagon if war monger Obama were in power back then. Carter is a coward, 444 days they kept our people. I think it's time we sent them 444 kilotons, just as a reminder. Must not conflict resolve by suggesting that someone should go sit on an ice pick... |

Carter is a coward, 444 days they kept our people. He tried using the military but that didn't work. He should have paid a ransom like Reagan did then you people would love him. Trivia quiz; what president of the 20th century, after Eisenhower, spent the most time in the military? I don't like Carter because he pardoned the draft dodgers he meant well but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. |

Kennedy, Nixon, or Ford. You got me? ;-) No, huge fan of Reagan. Last good president we had was Calvin Coolidge. Can you guess why I think that? Well Well. Da Bad Guys are said to have captured a bunch of US Artillery Weapons capable of lobbing boom booms 20 miles. They have GPS capability. If so they don't have the GPS correction codes. The US military alters the true position so it can be off as much as 25 meters ether way. I heard they are sending Sgt. Bowe back; he will be joining the forward observes made up of the military members who were part of Obama's Colombian security team. |

Thousands of Iraqis from the Yazidi minority have fled the advancing Islamist militants and are now dying of heat and thirst. The Pentagon is going to drop food and water to the surrounded Yazidi people. Of course the low flying humanitarian relief aircraft will have to be protected. I would suggest a B-52 carpet bombing of the advancing ISIS armored Humvees. In ground pools for the martyrs and their virgins. |
