As with just about anything, you can get fishballs out of a vending machine in Japan:

I haven't had one of those in ages, but I'm craving one now. Actually, a Reuben would be good right now, but there aren't any all-night deli's around here, and none that would deliver anyway. The only order-in food option for my 3rd shift lifestyle is pizza, and it's not very good.

Feel lucky. At 10:00 pm it is 7-11 convince food in this town. I only get 45 minutes break to drive to the next town from here to get better food opportunities. Then eat on the way back to work.

The funny thing about convenience store food is I've found their fried chicken is usually pretty decent.

Â¥420 yen is $3.63 usd. Did the currency conversion in your picture.

The only decent chicken at that hour is KFC.

Well, there are convenience stores in my neck of the woods that have steam tables set up, and they have some surprisingly good fried chicken, but again, delivery is a no-go here with the exception of blah pizza. Really wish a Chinese place stayed open all night with delivery. I work in a hotel downtown, and the guests are always looking for something late night. Chinese would be great!

The type of toaster you need for that is not available here. I looked into it.

I microwave the fishsticks in a 900w whirlpool microwave oven in a small Nordicware covered microwave safe baking dish meant only for microwave ovens(left), 15 seconds per stick works good, they are crisp and tasty, this is partly how I've been losing weight. The frozen veggies I heat up in a Corning 2.0qt or 2.5qt baking dish(right). The fishsticks are put in the dish frozen, the same for the veggies, a whole bag of veggies needs 7 minutes to heat up and no water or anything else is added, I add pepper to the veggies to taste while the veggies are on the plate, reheat time for the veggies is 3 minutes at full power while rotating.

Here's something that I found on Facebook that I thought I'd share...

Recipe of the day: Candy Bar Pie

Ingredients:
1 pie crust, from a pack of two or homemade
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup flour
1 cup candy bars (I used 8 miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, about 15 mini Rolos, and a handful of M&Ms to make 1 cup)
Extra candy for the top of the pie

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F.

Place pie crust in a 9” pie plate, crimping as desired. Press the sides of the crust so they are firmly attached to the edges of the pie plate.
Cream brown sugar and butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or you can use a hand mixer). Add eggs and vanilla and beat until combined. Add baking powder, salt, and flour and mix.

If you are using a stand mixer, add your candy bars to the bowl and mix on medium-high to chop of the candy. (The strength of the mixer is enough to break up soft pieces of candy, like Reese’s or Rolos.) If you’re using a hand mixer, coarsely chop the candy, the mix it into the dough.

Press into prepared pan (dough is sticky, spray your hands with cooking spray to avoid it sticking to your hands). Press some remaining candy on the top for decoration. Press the sides of the crust that are showing with the tines of a fork a few times.

Bake for about 24-30 minutes, until the crust is browned and the top of the pie is golden. It may still be a little jiggly in the center. Cool completely before cutting. Serve by itself or with whipped cream or ice cream.

My mom has a whole set of those CorningWare dishes. They're great. Hers are the old-school type that can go straight from freezer to oven.

I have two of those with glass lids, I inherited both(from My Mom and My Brother), ones on a shelf and one is full of veggies in the refridge at the moment. I've used this type dish to cook hamburger for spaghetti in a microwave oven, for meatloaf, etc, etc, etc, though the meatloaf I baked in a gas oven. Careful though, the lids will shatter if dropped and the pieces are very sharp.

Yes, I think she's lost a couple lids that way, and you can't get replacements.
