Tried 64 bit fedora core 10 & 17 on a dual core intel chip. Non will run boinc. did the yum install of additional libs but still fails.
Is there any 64bit fedora that works without needing other libs.

Not tried Ubuntu yet.

Found a motherboard/cpu in a thrown away computer. Its a 64bit chip and 2 gig ram so I thought I would givit a try.

fedora 20 (64bit) downloaded and we shall see how far we get. With fedora 17 the system seemed a bit un stable. Ok with fedora 10.

Well its done and working. Still not sure if the cpu/motherboard stable but it was free and its crunching a couple of malaria w/u. Will try some seti w/u if the machine stays up and works ok.
