What do the credits do for you??? If you find out, please let ME know...LOL. Seriously though, the credits on your account simply are a marker of how much work your computers have contributed to the project. They have no real world value other than comparison to others on the project. Unless somebody finally puts a price on that elusive Seti toaster. (A running joke amongst some who have been here a long time.) Welcome to the project, JOHN-117!! "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

What do the credits do for you??? You can trade them in for kudos, esteem and bragging rights. However, the exchange rate took a huge hit last year (more so for MB WUs than AP WUs) and despite a lot of complaints has not recovered since. |

What do the credits do for you??? I wonder if someone commissioned one of those toasters that puts an image on your toast with the SETI@Home logo & sold it with the proceeds to be donated if anyone would buy them. Most say: "Credits means nothing". But a lot of us is running after them. |

What do the credits do for you??? The idea is to provide a way of comparing how much work is done between people, systems, applications and projects and to show how much work you've done overall. Unfortunately the present Credit New system is somewhat (make that extremely) screwed, so it's not much use in that regard. Grant Darwin NT |

Answer to your question for me - I gives me a warm and fuzzy to see I have done real work for the project. I could care less what others do, way too many variables, I am just happy to use the number to track my internal progress. Of interest, I use boinc manager local host stat screen to monitor my changes in setup. The rac stat has information factored in from 2 months ago, not so useful. I would confirm this by showing one of my teammates not reporting since 04/04/2014 and the user still shows a "rac" - very low btw. In any event, be happy with the work you do and if it shows your work is better than others then it is a bonus. Regards Robert |

I am glad the "credits" mean nothing. I would hate to be offering my computer time for some dumb credit quest. Bill |

Welcome to the board, Bill ! :) Credits mean something different for each but their existence is still very important... |
