So they finally decided to release a new Catalyst in 2014. Have you braved 14.4 yet or are you going to hold onto 13.12 a bit longer? SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

So they finally decided to release a new Catalyst in 2014. Have you braved 14.4 yet or are you going to hold onto 13.12 a bit longer? I'm using it. I benched one AP wu with AP6_win_x86_SSE2_OpenCL_ATI_r2083.exe and it came in about 7% faster than 14.2 beta on my little 6670. I don't consider that enough data to say it's faster. It has processed a few dozen wu's without throwing any errors. |

Running for a few days on 2 of 3 systems, no issues noticed yet. Hmmm, looks like you have a typo in your override settings; WARNING: incorrect FFA thread block override value:819, using defaults It should be; FFA thread block override value:8192 FFA thread fetchblock override value:4096 Since the FFA thread fetch block is based on the incorrect FFA thread block, they are both listed as incorrect. I just updated my 7750 to 14.4, it had been running about an hour for a single unblanked task. Let's see how it does... |

„AMD has received feedback that some users are unable to install the Catalyst 14.4 driver on some motherboards with AMD chipsets. We have investigated the issue and have determined that it was caused by the AHCI driver component that was included with the driver package. Anyone affected here ? With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I downloaded it on the 27th of April and always use the Installer provided, no hiccups here. I wonder if the problem pertained to a particular OS? |

More importantly... Why would they be stuffing SATA drivers in with my video driver! Good question HAL. All i found out today spending all afternoon with this driver is that its crap again. First my 7970 downclocked after driver install then its much slower than 13.12. Just checked my times over at Einstein and the systems with 14.4 are not doing as well as they were, reverted to 13.12 on the 2 systems I had 14.4 on... -Dave |

I'm noticing a large proportion of blanking in the AP tasks I've been receiving recently - could these be skewing people's expectations? I haven't done a thorough analysis, but I haven't noticed anything drastically bad with 14.4. My zero-blanked AP tasks are finishing faster... but that could just be due to being paired with a high-blanked task that has less demand on the GPU. Soli Deo Gloria |

Evenso running multiple tasks i guess you wont notice that much with AP`s With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I'm not noticing any speed difference on my Windows 8.1 machine running AstroPulses, however.... I'm now having the Displays refusing to wake up. It's happened twice now since changing to 14.4 whereas it never did that with 13.12. The only thing I can do is hold the Power button down to shut it down. Not Good. |

It's happened twice now since changing to 14.4 whereas it never did that with 13.12. The only thing I can do is hold the Power button down to shut it down. Not Good. Usually (though subject to Windows configuration) a quick tap on the power button starts an orderly shut down - you can start again normally once all the lights are out. Press and hold causes a crash shutdown, without saving open files - sometimes necessary if a machine has stopped responding to all user input, but to be avoided if at all possible. |

Mine is set to shutdown on tapping the Power button, it's the first thing I tried. Unfortunately that Doesn't Work in this case...twice. The first time it happened pressing the Power button generated HDD activity but NO shutdown. This morning pressing the Power button didn't even generate HDD activity. Both Monitors were blank. As others have said, pounding on the Keyboard and abusing the rat had no effect. If you look at the Results page, All tasks for computer 6796475, it would appear the system went dead for a few hours as no tasks were completed after 7:53:56 UTC. I just received another 7750 to add to that host. I'll give it one last chance with Two 7750s before I go back to 13.12. |
