Hollywood made a picture of San Andreas fault.

Looks like a 10.

San Andreas - Official Trailer 2 [HD]

If that happens I would either run to the docks and head out to deep water or the airport ride it out in the air

An open park is the best deal for anyone.

I would be terrified, living on the ring of fire! Praying for you guys.

I'm not worried, I've gone thru big quakes and no tsunami can breach the Cajon Pass. My place has an Earthquake Resistant Foundation System under it, as mandated by San Bernardino County..

I'm pretty sure the whole thing wouldn't slip all at once, if it did it would one big wacker. the big one in SF the ground moved as much as 40 feet not like Alaska 1964 where the streets just opened up.

We get from 1.5 to 3.5 here almost everyday but we don't feel them.

They call it the North American continent.

No matter where you live, you are at the mercy of Mother Nature.
Be it an earthquake, flash floods, mud slides, tornatoes, volcanoes...the list goes on... and on.
Odds are, you are most likely to die in an accident involving another human.

About the later, we can do something about, but Mother Nature we can't control and should not try.

Just my two cents worth.

Still waiting for New Madrid to let go like it did a couple hundred years ago. Rang church bells in Boston. Aftershocks kept coming for months. Won't be much left standing around here after it happens. It's overdue.

More so than most I'd think, there is one thing I do lack, 3 Mame seismic isolators, which are only sold in Japan cause of the high demand there for such a product, just to put under My 125 gallon aquarium.. Of course I do have to move the aquarium to where the sofa is at in the picture, the sofa has been moved to the right since the pic was taken and the green recliner is long gone.

That's an old pic Celt, I dust and vacuum when I feel like doing that, right now cause of the heat, I don't. The Kitchen and master bathroom floors needs a real mop and bucket, what I have here is light duty and won't do the job, it's on My list to replace, which hopefully will stop growing soon and start shrinking instead.. I also need to get a 7' step ladder with a 500lb weight rating, which I think is around $200 or so, My old step ladder broke.

Adequate generator and enough fuel for the duration? Food? Water? Medicine? If New Madrid goes....so goes the infrastructure.....for months...maybe years. I live near the Oregon Coast, on top of the subduction zone. I know I can't have everything, but we try hard to keep our generator in good shape and enough fuel for a month, minimum. Food for ~3 month's. Water.... I'm hoping our well is still serviceable, but we also keep a supply of bottled water.
