With all the pretty colors they still don't like who they elect though.

That is the problem. I am not suggesting a parliamentary multi-party system is better. The winner-takes-all approach at least forces a choice that enough people like that the winner will be able to govern. A coalition government is not necessarily liked by anybody, and you may not even know who the Prime Minister will be until someone else selects him/her. You also don't know how long they will be able to govern.

It is just a question of how you express dissatisfaction in a two-party system when you have only two choices.

OOPS - haven't written it yet - will follow in a min :)

Here we go... I'd like it if all ballot papers had a "none of the above" box. Spoiled votes mean nothing to those elected, and those that don't vote cannot reliably be categorised (as either apathetic, dissatisfied or forgetful).

It might help ruling parties to remember that they're governing an entire nation, not just those that voted for them.

Karl Rove considered his job to be reminding W. that he was governing only those who voted for him. He was pretty good at it too.

Recycling? That is a local affair in the US. Towns are responsible for sanitation not the federal government. Washington has bigger things to deal with.

The peer, a former Treasury spokesman...
Why does the "peerage" suffer "commoners"?

Ah, quite simple really, without commoners there would be no place above
for the peerage to sit. Hence us commoners, Sirius excluded, must be tolerated.
...Sirius, you have been excluded....is that good or bad?...tee-he.

Bad as the dipstick that's supposed to represent me in Westminster still hasn't got in touch over the electoral roll issue...

...I wouldn't put it past the muppets, both local & national to try that with all those that voted UKIP to prevent them gaining more seats next year!

Update 2:

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle, going to have to stop calling them dipsticks & muppets if this continues...

..was going to send a sarcastic e-mail as I had no reply since the last e-mail received.

The postie gave me a heart attack this morning, received a nice thick envelope from the House of Commons (you gotta love those envelopes, no wonder we're taxed to death, they must cost a tenner a throw).

He's going to write to the CEO of the council & he's also concerned that I could not vote & will demand answers.

Personally, I still think that all I'll get is a load of waffle without nothing substantial being said or done.

Well at least he did respond, and has said he'll investigate your concerns, that's a good start.

That's what surprising me Simonator. This as well as several more serious issues have been on-going since early 2007. He was provided with all the documentation & other proof & all I received was an acknowledgement.

Now that votes are becoming crucial, he acts?

Sorry, that just confirms my view of them. However, if he resolves this to everyone's satisfaction then I'll make a public apology & call them by their names, until then...

...they're Muppets.

It really is time we got rid of useless bureaucrats...

D-Day veteran banned from D-Day remembrance - but he went anyway

...Love the police commissioners tweet...

"Nev Kemp, the police commander for the City of Brighton & Hove, tweeted: "Love this: 89yr old veteran reported missing by care home who said he can't go to Normandy for #DDay70 remembrance. We've found him there!""

Moral to this is: -

Don't mess with WWII Vets" :-)

Sorry but which "useless bureaucrats"

Seems he just went and didn't tell them

"Peter Curtis, chief executive of Gracewell Healthcare, which runs The Pines, confirmed Mr Jordan had attended the events in Normandy.

He said: "Mr Jordan has full capacity, which means that he can come and go from the home as he pleases, which he does on most days.

"At no stage was he banned from going to the commemorations."

Staff had in fact tried to get Mr Jordan on to an accredited tour with the Royal British Legion, he added, but it had not been possible because of the last-minute nature of the request.

Mr Curtis said: "Mr Jordan was reported missing to the police yesterday evening as a matter of caution because he did not return from his normal trip to town.

"When he left, [he] had not told us he was still intent on trying to get to Normandy."

Also as the care home was privately run, if it had banned him from going it would not have involved any bureaucrats any way.

Really? So all "professionally run" private institutions don't have pen pushers?

Wow, name one as I would love to work for them!

Secondly, where does a member of staff get off telling a WWII vet that he can't attend a remembrance ceremony?

After all, it was those vets who fought & died so that they can become useless pen pushers & it's time they woke up to that fact.

Er you said "useless bureaucrats" which seems to suggest government, which this was not. You did not say "pen pushers".

Also nowhere in that article did it actually say anyone had tried to stop him quite the reverse.

So

Secondly, where does a member of staff get off telling a WWII vet that he can't attend a remembrance ceremony?

Seems a bit redundant as the article you linked to says no one tried to stop him.

Prison for aide, questions for Del-boy

"Tonight a man who helped get his boss into Number 10 faces up to a new life - in prison. His former boss faces serious questions about his judgement."

Not a very good week for England :-)

Think Del-boy ought to give Rodney some more press time!

A very interesting report which shows precisely what Del-boy thinks about the citizens he's governing...

Question time

"David Cameron could have chosen not to ask his spin-doctor to enter government with him but he chose to ignore the flashing red lights.

He was warned not to by the press pursuing the story, by colleagues, by his coalition partners as well, of course, as the Labour Party.

He argues that that was because Coulson had proved himself to be competent and trustworthy."

Hmmn, no wonder he backed off the EU referendum issue & from this report, I'll lay odds the country won't get one in 2017 even if the Tories win in 2015!

Ex aide to PM charged over child abuse images

Doesn't he know how to gauge people?

Oops forget that last comment, it seems that many in Europe has gauged him correctly!
