I've always done the "handy man" chores myself. I had to learn because my ex was useless and wouldn't lift a finger to anything at all, so I fixed the car, out up shelves, repaired the plumbing, did the gardening, did the decorating, moved the furniture and opened all the jars. Now I do these things because I am better at them than my husband. Except for the jars, I live in a house full of me so I can usually find someone to open a jar for me. If I can't, then running the lid under very hot water for a while usually works.

I cant tell you the number of times I have tried to open a jar for the wife, And cant, She will then take it whack the lid on the counter and it opes right up. She then says thanks for looseing up for me dear:)

:) I have never been beaten by a jar. I don't know if it's because I'm left handed or not. Now child-proof caps are a totally different ball game. I've always had to get my daughter to open those for me. :)

What on earth are you on about???

It certainly used to happen when I was at school, and mainly with the under 10's, probably not these days.

Why do you think I posted that fundraiser?

We all know why.

If I can't, then running the lid under very hot water for a while usually works.

Much easier is to have something like a small toffee hammer, and tap all around the edge of the lid with it, comes off in seconds. Or buy one of these Jar opener I'm sure they are available in your location, and much easier that messing around with hot water or waiting around for an available male. In your house they must be like buses, don't see one for ages then three come along at once.

I don't know anyone who's ever kept a hanky in their knickers. Most people don't even use hanky's these days. They use disposable tissues.

I think that you will find that the traditional roles of the past have changed these days. I know many couples today where the woman doesn't think twice about mowing the lawn or washing the car, or having a bash at some decorating. Many men are better cooks than their other halves and enjoy it. It's all about an equitable division of labour in a relationship. I cant cook for toffee, so the other half does it. She couldn't mow a lawn properly in a month of Sundays, so I do it. She will wash the car to save money but I go up the car wash.
