I never heard of this Abbott so excuse me.

I am surprised that China has not exploited this incident to their political advantage. After all there were more Chinese citizens on the plane than any other nationality.

Exploit what? Their total incompetence in this matter? China said their satellite found the plane and then they were the first to hear the pings. Now that Malaysia, the lead entity, is back to square one let them do what they want. The US is ready willing and able to help with the "contracted" next stage.

Actually Batter Up, Angus Houston is not to be blamed here as he wanted to keep the detection of those pings secret until more research was done to confirm them.

The person who you should be blaming is our idiot PM, "The Mad Abbott", in this case who decided to jump the gun on them while on an overseas trip trying to score more political points (Angus was forced to tow the line by his boss Tony).

The thing is if you're going to blame someone, then get your facts straight 1st and make sure that you're blaming the right person.

But in the end, the Malaysian government is where the buck stops on this as they should've had a plane in the sky following this flight as soon as it went off course.

It must be lawyers writing these letters and pointing fingers. The British satellite company was doing a favor by using their data in a way it was never meant to be used. Australia and to a lesser extent US are doing a favor by looking for the plane. OZ may be getting out of the free search as the new deeper search will be a "contracted" affair. The delay is most likely caused by OZ wanting China to pay the bill.

It would be nice if a US company won the contract.
