BOINC created 2 separate records for one of my 4 computers. One is for windows 7 without Service Pak 1 and the other record is for the same computer with SP-1. When I try to merge them it says they are incompatible.

Did you only up grade to SP1 or did you reinstall Windows? If reinstall did you use the same name?

Message 1489039 - Posted: 14 Mar 2014, 21:57:31 UTC - in response to Message 1488720.

Actually what happened was I was running Win7-SP1 and while searching for a download torrent for a TV program my wife missed, my computer got bombarded with Trojan downloads etc. and 25gb free space was completely filled. After deleting all the rogue software installed by these web sites I still had little free space. I then copied the entire BOINC directories to a save drive and did a partition restore from last December which apparently did NOT have SP1. I copied the BOINC directories back and then reinstalled SP1. Apparently BOINC contacted the server before SP1 was installed and created another entry for the same computer. The computer name was the same for both entries but they won't merge. I hope this isn't too confusing. Thanx,

Bob B.

I assume it is this computer;

it has a task still pending, stuck. That may be your problem. There is another problem too; that computer contacted the servers after all your other computers were created.
