Yes Marvin crashed badly Julie as Matt's news post explains.

My 2nd rig has finished its backup project's work and so far seems to be able to maintain cache.

Whether that will be the same when my main rig finishes its backup project's work tomorrow maybe another story if the splitters can't build up a reasonable stock of work.

Cheers.

OK, since AP probably will be unavailable for some time, I did finally bite the bullet, and installed the apps for MB v7, CPU as well as GPU. (manually of course, no installer for me, as long as I still have an intact brain.)

MB v7 will be my backup project, until AP is available again. :-)

What was the saying - was it "never say never"?

Oh well, I'm sure you can find a good disinfectant when AP becomes available. :=) We should get a nice long run of AP for catchup.

Seems like it over here as well, when I finally finish those 4 AP tasks... All 4 over 100 hours encounting. My RAC of that computer has plummeted seriously...

If you look at the stats, in the ranking section where you usually compare your performance with your nearest neighbours, it is wide desolation.
You see RACs which are (still for a very short while) like 2-3 times the daily credits.
Then you spot the "sinners", those few with unchanged credits: the "evil" ones who have all this time continued to crunch only MB units! ;-)

Sleepy

P.S.- OK, yesterday we also had the upload problem. But I like to see it this way anyhow ;-)

Their credit does increase though, no?

[edit]Oh, I get it:) Your credits do increase a lot once you've finished those AP tasks!

No the RAC and our daily credit production of us all will dive, dive, dive until the AP work returns because the creditscrew issues, and after that will rise again very slowly.

But don´t worry, our contribution to the science continues in the same way when we crunch MB.

It does not matter much, it was just a joke, but actually I meant that if you look at what people gained yesterday, they had a daily credit which was 1/3-1/2 of their (diving) RAC, except the few "evils" with daily credit comparable to RAC.
Soon of course daily credits and RAC will get in sync for everybody.

24 hours, still no ready-to-send buffer.

Sorting out MB WU production really needs to move up on their to-do list, or even just enable those last 2 splitters & see what effect that has.

That's me. And all this time I thought I was being very nice staying off AP because there are too few to satisfy the demand...

I've only ever crunched MB, and my RAC continues to decline- even without the system issues we've been having.

My 660's and 550Ti's just love MB's though I wish that there wasn't so many shorties around.

Cheers.

I remember when the only people running GPU APs were those with ATI cards, 'cause, the only GPU App there was for ATI cards was APs. Didn't have much of a choice, none in fact. Then the ATI Multibeam App came out but it caused screen lag and netted 4 Times less credits. Still didn't have much of a choice for ATI cards. Now, those of us still crunching APs on our ATI cards are hounded and insulted.
I'm extremely sick of it. I'm not doing anything I wasn't doing previously, only now it's somehow considered 'bad' by a few people that are worried about getting a few less credits on their nVidia cards. Those people have a serious problem...really.

BTW, a week after the AP Splitters went out there are Still 40,000 APs out in the field. Even with 500 channels loaded at once, APs were usually available within every 5 days. So, those 40,000+ are just sitting there unused between AP downloads.

Other than foam and stamp their feet there
's nothing they can do about it. You'll feel better
if you just ignore them.

I guess I'm a sinner also. I just recently took action to increase my RAC. I have a pair of GTX760s and a pair of GT620s sitting idle because there's no linux MB app for them.

I put together some PCs from my junk box. A couple of Core2 Duos and a Pentium dual core. They're just fast enough to feed the GPUs. I have those CPUs doing MBs right now since there's no APs. It takes 3, 4 and 6 hours to do one MB for 35 to 100 credits.

I tried loading up an app from arkayn's site (Lunatics_x41g_linux64_cuda32.7z) to see if I could start crunching some MBs on them and ended up trashing just under a hundred MB tasks. (edit: ...on the last attempt. 174 total -- can't only download one MB task when I test it. Tried 3 times. Gave up.)

This next AP feeding frenzy is going to be a good one.

Edit2: And my slowest processor (pentium E5400) just got an AP? Estimated more than 46 hours to crunch? And the two GT620s are going to remain idle? Maybe the servers are just bench marking it and after this one CPU AP, it will NEVER send another CPU AP to this CPU? I hope this is the case.

When the APs start back up, I'm selecting NO CPU WORK on my slow processors to make sure of it.

Check the execute bit on the app, you got a permission denied error.

Have noted a problem with downloading work units. Have had this difficulty with about 40 work units, this evening. Have set to NNT, for the time being.

A small snipette of the event log. Would these messages indicate a server problem or an issue with my machine?
