What temps are they running?
Are they overclocked?
How many WU's are you doing per GPU?

74,62,68,74 C respectively. AP's tend to make run hotter. MBs they are about 5 C cooler.

Stability becomes an issue after 3 Work Units per card. Need a good MoBo to hand the traffic on the bus as well as the chip.

according to my volt meter looks like 1050W, if I'm reading it correctly ( it goes down but that is the highest I'm seeing)

My newest system to come online will be called the Punisher(I let my wife name it). Stuff: I7-4790K, 2-970s, Intel SSD, EVGA 850, Noctua U14S, & Corsair 540. It was a fun build, really wanted to get some hybrid 980Tis, but my budget ran short so I settled on the 970s.

This is the second time I write this post , as I stupidly opened a new page on the tab with the post I was writing. Going back, post gone. Sigh. :)

Anyway, today I finally had time to switch my daily driver from its old generic case with HyperEVO 212 cooling to its new Aerocool Aero-1000 with Master Cooler Seidon 120v ver2.0 water cooling. At the moment I am letting BOINC do a burn-in test, to see how hot things become. So far...

Last night I was still running at 74C on the GPU, and while gaming max temperatures on the CPU were 65C. I hope that's far less today.
First I started by colour coding the hard drives and their SATA cables, and photographing which cable went where on the motherboard SATA connectors. Just so that my primary HDD would be primary again in the next case. And with a DVD player and 3 HDDs with drive letters going from C: to Q: you can imagine I would want to have them back in somewhat the same order.

I then took everything apart and cleaned all parts off. The heat sink of the HyperEVO had a wig on, this despite the self-made filters on the PC. Still, not as much as I would've probably had if I hadn't put any filters on. Seeing how the floor behind my computer was thick with shed cat hair, I would've expected more on the heat sinks. The heat sink of the GPU had some dust on it, but still not as much as the HyperEVO had. Used an old toothbrush, toothpicks, a can of compressed air and my own breath to clean everything off.

Switched the motherboard over, taking off the old back plate of the HyperEVO, putting on the back plate of the Cooler Master.
Reconnected everything, put the PSU in, etc. etc. Last I put the pump on the CPU and fastened it. Checked everything over, put a power cable in, flipped the switch at the back, pushed the button on the top, and... nothing. No lights, no fans, nada. Okay, checked all connectors again, found I'd put a PCIE 6+2 connector on the CPU power, switched that for two 4 pin. Power, nothing. Removed and re-fiddled on all those small connectors for HDD LED and Power LED etc. Nope.

PSU blown? I called my computer store, and it was 17.40 at the time. The store will close at 18.00h.
The owner told me to short the green and the black cable on the 24 pin connector. Seeing how I have 5 black cables and he couldn't explain through the phone, I rushed over to him. Luckily the store is just over the bridge, left if I look that way. :)
The owner showed me how to short the pins, and then gave me a 500W PSU as a loan, in case my PSU was blown. I could pay it if I needed it, else bring it back the next day. (He is a good friend.)

Came home, first tried the short. Fan on the PSU turned, meaning not a blown PSU! Yay!
I then reconnected the 24 pin connector and tried to turn on again... Powerrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Went into the UEFI, found that my primary HDD was missing. That was the SATA cable that had come loose when I put the side on the case.
Booted into Windows, first ran a bit of the BurnInTest program. But seeing how it would do whacky things with the Power consumption shown in Core Temp 1.0 RC6 (340-585 Watt), I stopped that. Instead I am now running BOINC.

One Seti Multibeam task on the GPU, three Einstein tasks on the CPU. GPU runs at a sustained 55C, the maximum peak on the CPU has been 56C.

i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz
Sapphire AMD HD7870 2GB GHz Edition (2 fans)
16GB Kingston DDR3
Aerocool Aero-1000
Master Cooler Seidon 120v Rev2.0 with fan.
3 case fans.

The weird thing thus far, testing with a feather, it feels like the fan on the radiator is blowing out through the radiator, not sucking in the air from the outside. I connected it as it is shown in the image in the manual, with the fan blades arching towards the front of the fan. Maybe it needs to blow on this system, I don't know. I turned the fan around on the TV server and the temperatures there only went up. So the other day I'll try to turn the fan back around again there as well.

I even did some gaming earlier, Just Cause 2 which heated up my CPU last night to 65C and GPU to the magical 74C.
Now the CPU doesn't go above 40C and the GPU is at 54C. I am glad I got the water cooling.

Of course, now we'll have to wait for another heat wave with a computer room temperature of 30C+. :)

Don't a new build feel great? I've always enjoyed putting a rig together with my own hands and then seeing it run VS buying something mass produced.
