looks very nice They look nice, though that looks like a Gigabyte lga2011 UD3 motherboard, I can't tell what size of psu that is though or the case, still it looks nice. I'm still a month or so away from getting a case to equip My EVGA X79 Classified, though the cooling for the i7 3820 cpu is a Cooler Master Glacer 240L(it's expandable), I'll have 3 cards by then, an EVGA GTX570 w/an Antec 620 cooler that uses an NZXT G10 mounting, a Zotac GTX580 Infinity and a PNY GTX580 LC XLR8, the psu is a Silverstone ST1500 1500w psu and the case will be an Azza GT1 full tower case, I'm looking to acquire another PNY GTX580 soon and that will be last of those cards. I need to get 2 more GTX590 cards for another PC, which needs 2173w of power(I used the Newegg Power Calculator to determine the wattage), that will have to be divided up 2 ways, into 2 psus using an add2psu board and either an Azza 9000B or an Azza GT1 case, the main psu will need to be at least a 1500w psu, the 2nd a Corsair 850w psu(I have the Corsair 850w already, which is what My present PC uses) of course this 2nd PC is mostly water cooled as it's an Asus X58 R3E motherboard w/an i7 940 cpu. I have a 3rd motherboard which is also an Asus, an X79 Rampage IV Extreme w/an i7 3820 cpu, I'm going to use the same case as the first two here as well, I'll have to buy ram for the 2nd and 3rd PC's, radiators and such, the 1st PC which will replace My current PC's dying motherboard is a totally closed loop setup, the 3rd is for 4 Asus GTX980 Poseidons to occupy, being the most expensive this last PC will take the longest, since the 980's are looking like about $650 each or about 2-3 months a piece to get just 1 card, but I have lots of time and can take the long view, in between doing other things, like doing work on My car(not exactly really important work, I already had the important work done in October). looks very nice Ok, so I stand corrected, still that's a nice motherboard, I'd have gone for the 5930K(40 lanes, 5820K cpus only have 28 lanes) and an Asrock X99 OC Formula. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

My latest machine is simply a black box, a HP Pavilion 152-ea running Windows 8.1.64-bit with Virtual Box 4.3.12 and the CERN Virtual Machines. Since one of them, Atlas@home, needs 2 GB RAM for each task and it can run 4 on the A10-6700 AMD CPU, i upgraded its RAM from 8 to 20 GB by filling all its 4 slots. Very easy. Tullio |

The problem was the price difference between the chips. All the 5930K gets is extra PCIe lanes and a 200Mhz speed up. It would have cost an extra $300. Ideal would have been the top of the line chip but I might have to wait for the price to come down. They get less speed (3Ghz) the same 40 PCIe lanes as the 5930K and an extra core/2 threads. It was about $800 more. BOINC blog |

Yeah, I know what you mean, I can find the X99 Asrock for about $400, the 5930K is about $600, so yeah, it's not cheap and I'd need to buy DDR4 ram and I don't know if G.Skill makes DDR4 ram yet. At least the X79's are closer to the present day and for about $700 I got 2 cpus and 2 motherboards, plus a further $200 for a PNY LC GTX580, which I think for a 580 might be about as fast as a 580 gets @ 857MHz, My Zotac 580 is underclocked to 797MHz, stock speed is 815MHz, which with My current PC is too warm for My taste. My GTX 780's have blown their fans out months ago. They're "passive" cooled now. See pictures below: My Rig (currently running on spare part mobo P9X79-WS, while P9X79WS-E is being in service) These are not currently used: (Side panel fans are not powerful enough, One Gtx780 GPU does not fit on mobo) This is The Fan. … blowing less than an inch away from the 3 GPUs (Their heatpipes recognizable) What is not visible? -- The Fan is taped up almost completely from the GPU side. It has an opening for the air flow just where the GPUs are. From the fan input (air in) it is taped at the outer rim for to keep the fast moving air inside the fan: The only escape for the air is just where it is supposed to be -- towards the GPU section. I just bought a New Azza 9000B case... Of course it's discontinued, to be replaced by the Azza GT1 case... The motherboard tray is removable and reversible, has the capability for 2 psus, a 480mm radiator, a 120mm radiator and a 240mm radiator if there is no 2nd psu installed... The case will be here on Thursday according to UPS. Then I can start to build the replacement to this PC and then pull the drives out of this PC to be used on the newer motherboard, it's an EVGA X79 Classified motherboard w/an Intel i7 3820 cpu, the cpu to be cooled by a Cooler Master Glacer 240L cpu cooler. I got a Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro AMD cooler in today, for less than $50, practically a steal, along with the AZZA 9000B, which is discontinued, Azza makes the GT1 case now instead of the 9000B, which has no 2nd psu cable and the design is a bit different on the outside. Ugh, that's a big box. This cooler is going to cool the gpu in an EVGA Black OPS GTX580(a 1583) card that I bought, at least once I clean off the radiator some on one side, I have a few brackets that fit Nvidia cards to do this with. I'm hoping some The cpu cooler for the EVGA X79 Classified is a CoolerMaster Glacer 240L, the motherboard uses an i7 3820 cpu, yeah I've got a bit of work to do, just not much energy at the moment. Here is the after, I cleaned the fins of the dusty crud. I don't recommend this stuff without a warning, it says to rinse immediately if sprayed on aluminum or on painted surfaces, yes I rinsed it with water, fast... This Gunk-Purple works in seconds, I'd only use this on Radiators and then rinse very quickly and thoroughly... Oh and yes, be careful of the fumes too. A close up. Now I know what to clean My PNY LC GTX580 Radiator with. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

Here's My replacement PC(under construction), which has run into 2 snags, I need to get a C19 to C20 cable with a right angle connector on the C19 end. The problem is the psu is up against the GTX570's radiator(can't be turned here) and the front USB 3.0 cable is not able to be connected to the motherboard. The solution to My USB problem is this: The other is a psu cable problem, the included cable is the wrong type and is too thin a wire gauge, should be 12awg. My solution is this 8' cable or the 8' cable and a pcb socket, which may not fit, I'm not sure either will fit. The Azza 9000B/W or GT1 case has a 2nd psu location up front. Nice, I see you 'delidded' your cpu, that should help keep the cpu cooler, Intel's 4xxx cpus otherwise don't run as cool I've read, that's why I have a pair of 3820 cpus. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |
