The forecast for here is 27C/81F with afternoon showers/thunderstorms again. A good cloud burst kept me down the bottom pub for an extra beer yesterday. Cheers. |

The forecast is that it will not go below 0F tonight. Furthermore, it may not again for the rest of this winter. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Well about to get slammed with another 8"-10" of snow tonight and tomarrow. Forecasters say change over to rain likely by the afternoon on Thursday but not before the brunt has hit. Temps haven't been above freezing for last 5 days. Its been the coldest winter (day in/day out) I can remember, at least it seems so. |

Where I live we are just on the outskirts of the major snow. They are predicting 1-4 inches. I hope its none myself. You guys down south please stay safe. And you guys in the Northeast stay safe also.
Old James |

We actually hit 30C/86F (felt like 28C/82F) and we missed out on the storms though we have rain coming in from the SW which will hopefully make it here before I go to bed. Cheers. |

Pax hit Philly Towne around 21:00 last night and has already dumped over 9 inches of snow/sleet, and the wind is enough to keep the snow/ice off the tree limbs so far. As I write this, it is just snow, but the rain is coming. After the rain there is supposed to be a couple of hours break when maybe I can get out and try to get some of it off of the sidewalk/driveway. Then there is the wrap around tonight into tomorrow morning. Could get up to 12" before it's all over. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Not much here. A band of snow showers will move across the Chicago Metro area late this morning and early this afternoon bringing brief bursts of moderate to heavy snow. Accumulation will be minor, generally bless than in inch but with the cold pavements the snow will accumulate on roads and walkways. Visibilities may briefly drop below 1/2 mil in the heavier snow showers. The activity should move east of the area by early afternoon. from http://blog.chicagoweathercenter.com/ I can say there was nothing when I went out to try my car at 1030, and it was warm enough for me to be out there for 5 minutes without feeling it. Okay, it's 20F right now a mile away. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

As current and just recent armed services personnel, I would imagine that they could be called upon to help out. But I would judge that it was more a PR exercise than anything. But it seems to have been well enough appreciated for all that. Princes William and Harry, good chaps. :} |

Floods getting closer. http://www.croydonadvertiser.co.uk/WEATHER-WARNING-Croydon-braced-Friday-night-storm/story-20631965-detail/story.html This is a couple of miles south of me!! On Wednesday I had a job just a few miles south and on the way had to drive through flood water for 200-300 yards, in 2 separate sections they had reduced the road to one lane with lights I assume to stop the "bow wave" from passing cars, it was not a pleasant experience. They are currently using a pedestrian underpass a church car park and school playing fields as a "holding ponds" for flood-water. If I get flooded everyone else will be in trouble, I am on the second floor (third floor for the US). |

Enjoying a few days of respite from the weather, but of course the flooding is still continuing as the upland water drains off Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

We had our first rain free day of February yesterday and only the 4th rain free day of the year. That really does make it sound like it's been pretty grim doesn't it? Rain forecast today, just incase those on the Flooded parts of the Somerset Levels thought things might be improving. Bad news for them, the new pumps have had to be turned off as the faster water flow is erroding the river banks, which would make for another very widespread disaster if the containment of the Parrett failed. |

Chicago officially hit 46F yesterday. I know it was at least 42 here in Naperville. Expecting about 40 today, which it is now. Lots of snow melting. Severe thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow morning, causing worries of flooding because the water can't soak into the frozen ground. We have the same warnings for flooding. I have allmost 4 feet of snow in my yard. We have rain forecasted for Thursday. Then Sunday it will get cold and freeze again.Im glad i had my roof shoveled off last Friday. After today being in the 40's it bare shingles again. The one thing you dont want to do is let rain mix with snow on your roof. It turns to ice.
Old James |
