Snow moving in for the this evening's rush hour and lasting long enough to mess up tomorrow morning's rush too. About three inches around most of the Chicago area, a little more far north and into Wisconsin, even more than that in the Kankakee River valley and south.

Deep freeze Wednesday night and through Thursday night, but at least the high Thursday will be in the single digits above 0F, not below it. (Funny how that can sound like a good thing.)

The roads sure were nasty going into work at 1:00 pm today. It took me 40 minutes where the normal time is 25 minutes. When we left work most of the roads were clear. I made it home in 30 minutes. We got about 8 inches I would guess. Its cold here now though.

Major snow hit the area over the weekend after Mother Nature warmed up and melted most of the previous snow; that seems to be the cycle this winter, snow, melt to clear, then snow again. 2nd of three winter storms came through the area starting Tuesday into yesterday. Major, major ice in Southeast Penna. and the Gov. Corbett has declared it a disaster area. As of 04:00 this morning 2/3 of Chester county and at least 1/2 of Montgomery counties are without power. Power went out in several areas of Philly. Nearly all of the outages have been caused by trees bringing down power lines. A couple of transformer blew in Philly, one setting a car on fire. My neighborhood in Philly had an outage for about 4 hrs. yesterday, so I decided to clean off the car and do drive around a little. Trees down all over the place closing many streets. The 3rd storm is to hit this weekend, but don't know how much snow it will bring as of yet.

While I'm writing this at 06:00 there are still 422k with out power, down from over 475k. This is going to take several days to clear, and hopefully the one that supposed to hit this weekend will not be too bad.

Dark day...cars drive with their lights on all the time. We can't get rid of that nasty wind either, quite warm @ 11°C but feels colder due to the wind.

Cold today, high 9f. 2-4" snow Saturday. One TV station is saying there won't be a 20 in the next 7 days, but another station says there will be a couple of them.

A little warmer than Zapped at 4.7C, but somewhat damper, but not as damp as some...

Chicago is seeing its fourth straight month dominated by below-normal cold, a pattern that seems locked into place at least through next week.

Seems like a good old fashion winter to me. Reminds me of growing up in upstate New York. People have gotten spoiled with all of the mild winters we've had over the past several decades -- GLOBAL WARMING folks!!

They're trying to cheer us up with mid to upper 20s for next Thursday and Friday.

There was at least an inch of snow on the ground every single day in January. That doesn't happen very often.
