Speaking of cleaning it, there are white blotches on the floor. I hope wiping again with wet paper towels will take care of it. Any other suggestions?

The alcohol may have dissolved the varnish/wax on the floor. You may need to have the floor refinished.

When I got home this afternoon, I finally managed to get my rum open. It's not even a too-tight screw top, it's a stopper. I put it back in, half way, and put the bottle back on the floor by my chair.

A little while ago, I thought I'd have a quick swig before going to sleep. I tried to pick up the bottle, but it slipped out of my hand. The stopper popped off and the bottle landed on its side. By the time I got up, turned on the light, and picked it up, about half the bottle had run out on the floor. The 53 year old, never been refinished hardwood floor.

I need a drink.

Hey, it's not quite Captain Morgan, but it's not bad, and Costco is the good company.

When I got home today, I smelled the rum as soon as I opened the back door. Then I went out again for about half an hour and when I came back I smelled it before I opened the door. (Okay, all the paper towels I used to clean it up are in the garbage can right inside the door.)

Given a choice of chicken parmesan on egg noodles and fruit/veg sides and a dinner roll (the kids' meal), chicken paprika (unbreaded breast in a paprika sauce) on the same egg noodles, or an Italian beef sandwich with mozz and fries, I had the beef. It was disappointing, as usual.

I would rather have had a Portillo's combo with fries, onion rings, and a piece of chocolate cake, with the Rocky's Patented Special Magic that cuts the whole meal down to 400 calories.
