This is a fantastic story by Julia Sweeny of how she became an atheist.
I have mentioned it in links previously, but this is the full 2 hours on YouTube.
This is entertaining, logical, thought provoking, and just good.

If you have the two hours, it is definitely worth it.

Can someone enlighten me what that picture is about?
Tried looking up the date and i got the death of PC Keith Blakelock during a riot in Tottenham, Marita Koch of Germany setting the 400m woman's record, and the death of famous bandleader Nelson Riddle.

Edit: Tried a reverse image search and got this, i understand now.

16,433 aborted babies

?? :'( However did that number get so high?

Found the Wiki link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles_fetus_disposal_scandal

One word: Gruesome...

Weisberg had stored the specimens properly but had not disposed of them due to financial difficulties.

Yes, its a very emotive story. I wonder why they weren't disposed of properly.

The number is so high because so many women feel the need to have abortions. Which is why it is better that is it safe and legal, rather than forcing women to seek illegal back ally abortions that killed thousands of women before it was made legal.

Its a sad choice for women to make, but it should be their choice and the fetuses should be disposed of properly and respectfully.

Perhaps someone should put a grave marker to count all the women who died from illegal abortions? The numbers would be just as high if not higher.

The subject of abortion and religion is a filled minefield. I believe that women should have the right to make a choice and live with the consequences. This is one area where I agree with ML1's view that education is the answer. Make sure that young men and women fully understand the possible consequences of having unprotected sex. If the church took a more enlightened stance regarding sex out of wedlock and promoted safe sex instead of threats of eternal damnation the abortion rate would diminish. Of course there are quite a few educated adult women who for one reason or another end up getting pregnant and for other reasons decide on abortion and I don't have a clue about reducing that number.

But, as long as there are starving children around the world dying every day I think the money spent on anti-abortion campaigns would be better spent trying to keep children that are already here healthy.

Or better yet, give people control over their own sexuality by promoting the use of contraceptives. After all, if you don't get pregnant to begin with, you don't need an abortion afterwards either. That way you can make sure that once you do become pregnant, its at a moment you are ready for it.

But what am I saying, this suggestion contains way to much common sense for the backward conservative parts of the United States.

Christians? Who cares? What is more offensive about them, than other Religions?

When I see the same amount of Anti-Jewish, Anti-Muslim, Anti-Hindu, Anti-Buddhist Posts: I will change my mind regarding the real motivation behind these posts.

Note: I do understand Anti-Semitic Posts will not be allowed in these Message boards. Why does this not apply to Anti-(fill-in the blank).

It is the same, and may lead to the same.

Check the thread title! As for my posts, it's been pretty obvious by now, that I regard all religions as bad as each other.

So, please enlighten us as to what hidden motivations you see in them.

Still not seeing what you see. My last post is a condemnation of an Islamic country, hence the wording of the link.

Anyone speak out against Islam & they are deemed as racist. However, as my link shows & not only here but in the Middle East threads, Islam is being used by others to further their agenda.

Looking into those threads, you seem to have a fixation on Judaism.

As I stated, you seem fixated on Judaism. Why not choose Islamist/Islamism or Buddhist/Buddhism or others.

Many have brought Judaism into the thread, however, others have brought other religions into it...

...so again, why your fixation, after all, they are all as bad as each other.

You on the other hand, seem to be constantly objecting to having Christianity being shown in a bad light & when that happens, you bring up Judaism...

...As you can see issues, I'm beginning to see you as an anti-Semitic.

Am I wrong?

My take on religion.

I believe what I want.
Everyone else believes what they want.
Nobody should try and convert anyone else.
Everyone gets along in peace.

No one set of religious beliefs (or lack thereof) is demonstrably better than any other. So, it all comes down to personal choice.

That's the perfect answer & one I agree with, unfortunately that answer is only for an ideal world.

That is one thing we do not have!

Change the word Christen/Christianity to Jewish/Judaism, in MANY Posts, and see, what it appears to me, to be.
