Yes, Two Faces Have I. Or perhaps many more than two. So many personas that even I cannot keep track of them all. I go to bed at night not knowing who I shall be in the morning. That does get a bit scary at times. But, I have learned to deal with it. And just accept that who I am today is who I am. "Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Hope for tomorrow." Thanks again for that, Mark. I am starting my session here right now. Because of that, I tend to be more practical at first and then come back at it later. I came back to a machine here which I put into sleep or hibernation mode before I left. When that happens, all running data, including those in RAM memory are stored to the disc and the computer shuts itself off. Possibly the main switch could be turned off as well, but the main purpose behind this is a warm start, where I am able to return to the running environment in a short time without losing anything. So, before finishing the previous session, the computer did turn off when doing so. But I am returning back to a machine once again turned back on again and showing the login screen for my local user. Therefore I assume that if I did not lose anything, at least it is not running either. But checking in with the Event Log, it definitely has been running since it came back. I have not checked at which time it started running yet. It needs a comparison between the time I finished the session and the tasks were supposed to not be running anymore. The Genefer World Record Task was suspended and CUDA was turned off. At least running that task increases the sound volume quite a bit, because the fans need to catch up with the rising temperature as well. This is the main reason for why I chose putting the machine into suspend or hibernation mode before leaving. For the Yafu factorization tasks there is no such summary for run time length, of course. But one of the tasks has returned a quite good factor overnight, a P37 or P38, from a C286 (a composite number). I will let it finish the current set of curves before I press CTRL-C on it. Edit: It became a P37 this time. Also I could finish this posting by just add that regardless of attitude or inclination, one should always show respect and admiration for the nature that we are part of. It is showing at least two faces, one good and one bad and whether or not it is all about science or it is all about religion and faith apparently should be up to science to decide and make a judgment about. |

There is so much that goes on in our little portal of life here that we never see. I personally believe in God so very much, because I am convinced of the fact that the complexities of the universe are simply too profound to have come about by happenstance. For example, the myriad of chemical interactions that simply allow me to sit here and type this post are just astounding. Mind numbing. The possibility that the human race came about from a couple of DNA strings having a party in a little cesspool of goo somewhere in the distant past is a non-starter for me. Definitely so, Mark. Almost 2 million more in credits you got since you came back. I guess we are resembling each other a little bit. The question becomes then how you are supposed to measure RAC (Recent Average Credit) against a given time period or interval. When saying "selected" in the previous posting, I meant to say "marked". I had a couple of web-pages open here in my last session. I need to back to the exact contents. Speaking of video contents, it is back to the subject of UFO's and possible alien visitors again. In my own opinion UFO's are a real phenomenon which has yet to be fully explained and understood. The latter subject becomes more controversial and one needs to go to the original sources behind this information in order to be able to catch the whole point. But not all video contents are available only on YouTube. I find a couple of interesting things while visiting other pages as well. Because we assume that we are alone in the universe, we think of technology as being man made and other phenomena being related to nature. Because we are able to understand polar lights and the orbits of the planets around the sun, are we still assumed to believe that there are things for us left to yet be able to understand? So, which things are we then taking about? There are many people who do not believe in hypnotic regression. Still we are observing people who at times may be ordered to be doing things they normally should not be do because they are in such a state. Because when this happens, we are supposed to believe that this is for real and that it is happening. Same goes with a lot of other things as well. We make up our minds and reflect about given things because they are what they either are supposed to believe, or possibly makes us think what they are. Then it becomes up to us to decide and make up our minds about what really is the truth behind those things we find it hard to believe in. One such example is the mirror. Have a look at yourself in the mirror. Your right arm becomes the left arm and vice versa. This is only one example of many such things which we often take for granted or do not bother about. There are also many things we are not able too see as well, because it may not be visible to us. When such a thing happens, they go unnoticed and we are not aware of such a presence. This may be part of the UFO phenomenon as well. There is a possibility that aliens may be among us, but they go unnoticed because we are unable to catch them among us. Nature may be hiding its secrets at times. When such a thing happens, it may not always be an easy thing to catch and it soon becomes an unexplained event lasting only a short time. Such an event is now more likely to be documented not only by stories being told, but also by videos which more or less are supposed to be for real and trying to give an explanation for what is being observed. |

Hey, bud. Us 'something less than normal' kids have to stick up for each other, eh? Even back in high school, I was tagged as being 'abby normal'. I got nicknamed Harvey though, not Abby. Knew a gurl by that nick though, and was she ever pretty. "Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Hope for tomorrow." Albert Einstein "With cats." kittyman

Here is something that you should know. After setting the parameters from the advice of Siran d'Vel'nahr, I am now able to run 11 CPU tasks as well as the Genefer World Record task at the same time by means of CUDA. Also, I am running the Yafu factor command on 10 different DOS windows using the 8 GB of RAM that is installed. I find this quite impressive. Also a separate window is running the ecm command with a large number of curves for the resolution of the given number as well. The Genefer World Record task slows the display down quite a bit, but right now its overall performance is quite good. Also, a large WinPFGW task is running iconized. Because of all the other things that are running right now, it does not get too much priority, but this is not that important since I now became satisfied at least when it comes to the running of the other tasks. Still there are a couple of minor things. The separate Seti@home-MapView application still comes up with a quite big yellow box when starting it up in the default SkyMap view. Also the first column in the WU's table (and probably the other tables as well if I swith to them directly from SkyMap view) is being selected, something which is not necessary. When having a look at a large number in the Factor Database, the mouse apparently hangs on the horizontal slider bar at the bottom and I also noticed the Windows "Show desktop" logo bumping up on me when placing the mouse at the bottom right. In conclusion. Almost perfect running environment right now and nothing too much to complain about. It still hangs at times, but one of my partitions lies here dead and that may be one of the reasons for this happening. |

I appreciate you being there Mark, willing to listen. The point is that I do not necessary give in to the woman behind the desk in the shopping store, or the woman behind the desk at the local postal office. In the end the web too soon becomes impersonal, where a single user either is of no use or value and if for some reason being in the way or perhaps is stepping on someone's toes is asked to leave or go away and find something else to do. If I happen to be doing something that I am not supposed to be doing, it too soon becomes a criminal offence. At least someone should be there complaining about certain things. So, if I happened to be a manager for a bank, am I supposed to be sitting there and receiving and reading possible complaints? Always that stupid customers around, you know. Either do not bother or if doing so, file a complaint at your local police department and let them handle the rest of the case. If you are lucky, you most likely escape with a fine. If you rather choose making it with an expensive car, you may end up being dead instead. So it goes. Always the same old story wherever you happen to be. |

No, stupid me. As Twain said, and the wonderful performances of such by Holbrook reiterated, We all are fools. It is simply the truth of the matter. I shall believe that there is a God greater than us for as long as He shall put up with me. When Hal, as Twain, say something as profound as the 'other animals never kill each other.....' And when, I realize that it is true.. "Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Hope for tomorrow." Albert Einstein "With cats." kittyman

Yes, stupid me. If a woman is supposed to be wearing a dress, you may be able to catch her hairy legs. In a box meant to be containing chocolate cake, I found a couple of chicken bones from yesterday's dinner. I bought a pack of chicken wings as well as the usual rissole, according to translation. (Make it meatloaf if you will). The manufacturer or seller of this product was once accused to be poisoning their customers by introducing a lethal substance in their product. When I eat this rissole, part of it can not be swallowed or eaten, but it is not dis-tasteful when it comes to taste. It can not just be eaten or swallowed. It is part of the product and the raw material behind this product is close to excellent. Also the manufacturer behind this product is a quite good one and therefore I prefer bying the meatloaf from this one against others. It should be noted that a couple of members of my family fell off in recent times. Because I was quite busy at that time, I was only able to participate in the funerals of my grandmother and grandfather on my mother's side. A melody being song or presented at the funeral is something like "Love from God". The ceremony is if not in a hurry, but at least commencing. I am parading past the coffin when leaving the church after the ceremony. Should I perhaps say thank you very much or perhaps give it another thought? I did not bring flowers with me for the opportunity or seanse. Best guess is that it eventually becomes me the next time it happens. |

Before I go. Money is supposed to make you rich. Regardless of you being rich and money is all around, if a storm makes a tree coming down on your power line and cuts your power, someone has to go outside and fix the problem. Solving such a problem is not only about money alone. If you are living in a place where drought is a problem, it always becomes a story when water for some reason is flowing when it is not supposed to be doing so. Compare this with a woman wearing pants, or rather a dress, blouse, or the similar. Does it make any difference? In the end it becomes the same old story. |

IF ya really wanna know............ I came to recognize God as a force in my life rather late in life. He has been undeniable since. I share that thought despite the thoughts of folks that shout it is not the right place to do it. I suspect it is always the right place to do it. Meow. "Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Thanks, Mark. A long time ago, SciManStev made a post here where he found it difficult to believe in a God because of all bad things going on. I do not have this posting right now. It just came up in my mind. The truth is that neither religion, nor making a possible distinction between the perfect and the not so perfect is always able to tell the whole story. Everyday brings something new and we are supposed to be learning from the lessons we experience whether or not we assume it is deliberate or just by coincidence. The sun is still yellow, at least when looking at it against the blue sky. Not everything changes over night and therefore we take certain things for granted. Definitely there is a meaning with life and not everything is happening by pure chance only, regardless of being for the bad or the good. I am having an expiration date as well and will end up in the grave before not too late. This is how it is supposed to be working. In between you may be able to find both laughter and joy as well as tears and sorrow. See you tomorrow. |

Something else right now. Should perhaps tell you about this. I was out shopping for the weekend earlier today. From an experience back in my study days where for some reason 6 grand of money ended up in my wallet and I for some reason lost all of it when in a shopping magazine, I rather prefer cards for the coins or the slip of paper. But when having a couple of cards instead of money in your wallet, such a card may be having an expiration date. Before I left home I already knew that my card had expired. Also I knew that I could have money for my shopping if I went to the local postal office first. Here where I live, this service is a reduced one. It is not an payout charging automat, but rather someone giving me service in person and also handling packages going in and out. In order to have money in my wallet, not only the card is needed. Also a valid identification, possibly including a picture has to be put forward. The woman handling things noticed that the ID also had expired. Something I had missed. Oh, oh! I went home with one less six-pack of beer than I wished for, but was able to keep most of the rest, despite the food not being free of charge. The problem now is that I am empty of money. But also the fact is that the web is not about such problems anymore either. If I absolutely wished, or had to, I could very well get my older disc inserted into this machine and eventually give someone a lesson of sorts. Yes, I do know a little about that thing as well. But is it worth it in the end? Sigh! What am I supposed to be doing next? Pray? |

Also I am noticing that I am erroring out on a couple of CPU tasks. Most recently this one, which I reported manually a short while ago. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=1685101163 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=3929378816 In this instance the result file apparently became too long. Also trying to locate the name for the brain substance which is responsible for carrying information in our brains. Came across the Wikipedia article about Alzheimers's disease, but this is not exactly what I am looking for. Found a long article which needs reading. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuron Apparently this article is a quite good one, having pictures included for illustration. |

Apparently Vega is a Delta Scuti variable star. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vega The old books gives its distance at about 26 light years. The Wikipedia says 25.04 plus or minus 0.07 light years. Also it is a Delta Scuti variable star, which is new to me and not listed in the books. And it was sparkling in some pinkish color well above the horizon before I put the binoculars away last night. Makes a similarity with alpha Aquilae (Altair) which is of spectral type A7V and some 16.73 light years distant (plus or minus 0.05 light years). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altair This star is known for its rapid rotation, making it an oblate or oblate spheroid, according to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oblate_spheroid http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spheroid You do not necessarily find life around such stars, even thought it might be possible. It only goes to show the almost endless diversity of nature which eventually makes life a possibility. |

Going to bed here now at 02:35 AM. I had a look at Vega (alpha Lyrae) through my binoculars. In the middle of the night it is located in the north and visible from my window here. But apparently it is throwing pinkish red color at times, despite having a spectral class of A0V. Did someone mess it up, perhaps? Also I made a similar mess of the Statistics tab in BOINC Manager. It apparently needs a restart in order to display the initial view because it lacks a "Default view" option or choice. At least when it comes to this version, which is 7.2.28 (x64). Checking in with this tomorrow. |

I forgot linking the second address. But it is the same as the first one. Also it became a couple of typos, because my left arm has become slightly stuck and most of they keys on the keyboard are only accessible this way. Sorry about that. But still I think I was able to make a little point in a previous post. |
