The system is x86_64-pc-linux-gnu but in trying to revert back to stock applications (deleting app_info.xml and project reset) the seti server downloaded the 7.01_i686-pc-linux-gnu applications and a series of work units, which are running in that mode.
I don't see any global or local preference or even a cc_config.xml option to specify the platform. I put in the <alt_platform> name as x86_64... but that doesn't seem to override the (apparent) "native" i686 platform choice.
So, how can I force the platform to the x86_64-pc-linux-gnu state?? Am I confusing the boinc client with the x86_64 as an <alt_platform> option so that it tries to pick something else as the default??

If the tasks run without problems (32bit compatibility libs installed), let them run. AFAIK, there isn't a significant difference between platform versions regarding performance.

Yes, the "i686" tasks are running o.k. with the 32-bit libs, but there is at least one other "stock" application, i.e. astropulse v6 linux/x86_64 6.07 (opencl_
nvidia_100) which I was hoping to run and it does not have an equivalent x86 (platform) application. (Nvidia gtx 650 installed and working o.k. with the Lunatics x41g for v7 workunits.)
By way of background, I used to run the Lunatics optimized astropulse v6 (as anonymous platform) along with v7.01 x86_64 before installing the Nvidia graphics card. So my motive for temporarily disabling the "anonymous" platform name was to let boinc "automatically" download the usable stock applications. Well, as I said in the first post, the automatically downloaded applications are NOT for the x86_64 platform.
Perhaps you see the application configuration I would like to achieve:
(1) Lunatics x41g for v7 workunits via CUDA (uses only 10% cpu time)
(2) Stock linux/x86_64 v7 cpu only (to utilize idle cpu time)
(3) Stock linux/x86_64 astropulse v6 opencl_nvidia (when work available)
(4) Lunatics optimized astropulse v6 (to utilize idle cpu time)
I can manage the app_info.xml o.k. for the anonymous platform mode but not without the proper stock application binaries. I suppose there is an FTP access to get the stock binaries but if I had that address at one time in the past I have lost it.
