Hello All,
I have seen several posts about this issue, but none of the solutions have made sense or worked for me. Here is my computer layout.

Bonic 7.2.33

GenuineIntel
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3537U CPU @ 2.00GHz [Family 6 Model 58 Stepping 9]
(4 processors)

NVIDIA GeForce GT 735M (2048MB) driver: 331.82 OpenCL: 1.01
INTEL Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (1752MB) OpenCL: 1.02

Microsoft Windows 8.1
Core x64 Edition

12 Gig of RAM

So now that that is out of the way, when running a SETI@home task, the "Show Graphics" is grayed out. Right now my task is "Running (0.033 CPUs + 1 NVIDIA GPU) SETI@home v7 7.00 (cuda50)" task I also have some others going like Milkyway@home and 3 Einstein@Home. The E@H graphics show fine, all 3 of them.

I also want to note that i have my processor set to 99% (something i found on other posts) to make sure one core is available for the integrated HD 4000 to be able to run tasks / show video.

Any advice or help?

Thank you much!
Joseph

On SETI@home, the applications that run on your GPU have no graphics, so the button is grayed out because there is nothing to show.

The graphics display and the use of the graphics card for displaying the screen saver conflict. Therefore, the screen saver is disabled...

ok, so are you saying that if i only use the cpu to crunch away on SETI@home, it will show me the graphics? and having 2 graphics cards doesnt effect this? i assume from your response that it is how that task is "programmed" to run?

Thanks for your quick reply!

This response I don't quite comprehend. If I had 1 gpu, i would understand, but the screen saver works fine with E@H displaying its graphics during the screen saver. Even when that said task is using the 1 NVIDA GPU resource. Could you explain further please?
Thanks!

I am saying that the executable for GPUs doesn't have a graphics portion built into it. However, the choice to run on only your CPU is up to you if you want to see the graphics. Your GPU, on the other hand, is far more capable of processing the work than your CPU is.

and having 2 graphics cards doesnt effect this?

Having two graphics cards has no bearing on the graphics executable. Though, as I mentioned above, GPUs are far more capable than CPUs, so if you were to combine crunching on both GPUs, you could increase the amount of work you do.

i assume from your response that it is how that task is "programmed" to run?

That's correct.

Well, Thank you again for your reply. Watching the graphics use to be one of my favorite things while doing homework and I always found it oddly relaxing... Yesterday I disabled GPU work and reset the project, and have not gotten a single SETI@home task since then... not quite sure whats up there.
I also have had problems getting my Intel video card to work correctly, it was for a different task though, E@H, and it just hangs at 0.000% and windows prompts me that the driver crashed. Any suggestions there? or should I make a new Post under their page?

Thanks much for the info you gave me!

Nobody advised you to reset the project.

To see the graphics you only need:
Set 'Use CPU yes' (no need to disable GPU):
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=project

Wait to get tasks for CPU
Wait (or force) some of CPU tasks to be 'Running'
Select 'Running' SETI CPU task
Use the button [Show Graphics]

I wrote it too fast. The use of the GPU for computation and for screen saver graphics conflicts.

This is only true for old GPUs
And we don't know is the monitor connected to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 735M or to Intel HD Graphics 4000

You are absolutly correct, No one on this fourm advised me to reset the project... What you do not know is that the first time I dl the Seti@Home project, it dl about 8 tasks too, i suspended all my other projects and forced S@H to run, but it would not. On other posts (i like to research, hense my First post) other people have had this problem, and the people there advised a project reset - instead of aborting them all...

As for your other advice here, Use CPU is yes by default, i have already explored all those settings, and then
I disabled GPU work
to force a task that was CPU dependent.

I am not new to computers, web pages, and program usage. I am however new to Windows 8.1.

To answer your other question - Monitor = laptop screen - im not using HDMI to a monitor or tv and this laptop does not have a VGA output. The display on this laptop is set to run off of the HD 4000 by default.

After 1 day i did finally get a task that was cpu relient, 3 of them actually and now they are showing graphics, it is quite unfortunate that i can not take advantage of my other card to crunch while displaying graphics, but i do have other projects that will use it and display graphics.

Is there any more advice on the GPU work showing graphics?

Thanks

The SETI@home MultiBeam application for the GPU doesn't have a graphic part included. I'm not sure about the AstroPulse application.

It's easy to check which apps do have graphics parts. Go to:
.....\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\

and look for .exe files with 'graphics' in the name, e.g.:
setigraphics_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe

(the 'graphics' .exe files are 'companion' files, i.e. the computing part of the above is setiathome_7.00_windows_intelx86.exe)
