I just checked my thermometer it says -7.7 F, Yep flat out cold.
The thing is when it does go up to the high 20s or even mid 30s it seems warm:)
You do get used to it. My house right now is 67F im in a t-shirt and not cold at all. Before this cold snap Id have a micro fiber long sleeve shirt on.

But then maybe the beer helps.

I had Beer O'clock down at the bottom pub early this afternoon, but now I'll sit back and enjoy Rum O'clock while watching the T20 cricket match tonight (Aussies V the Poms).

Cheers.

Ambien o'clock came early this evening. Oh, gotta go put my clothes in the dryer first, though.

One of the things I do miss about going to a bar where everbody knows your name for beer O clock. Is the commraderie. You cant get that by sitting at home by yourself. I quit going to bars way back in 1990 because I never knew when it was time to go home.

Really I have been a bit longer than that. Oh I go out for dinner and have one or maybe two but most all my drinking is at home. I get no tickets and no one complains about anything. :)) One plus is it's a whole lot cheaper. Cheers

Naperville's just peachy. The state "fixed" Ogden Ave. from here to Downers Grove last fall and it's bumpier now than it was before, and the winter is just making it worse. And they just started a multi-year project to widen 59 from Aurora Ave. to Ferry Rd., including a total redesign of the I-88 interchange.

I've never been an overly active ham. I have a 2M/440 mobile in the car and an HT (a few of them, actually) which I use for listening to the railroads. I also have a 10M mobile gathering dust in the basement. Upgraded from Tech to General when they dropped the code requirement. Could probably study the book and pass the Extra test, but I'd feel like a fraud.

Back on topic, I woke up last night about 1am. After going to the necessary, I settled back down and decided it was rum o'clock. Man, that 1.75l glass bottle from Costco is heavy. Then I couldn't get the seal off. Finally did that and couldn't get the top open. Gave up on that. Will have to try a tool this evening.

Since I got much older, I can't climb towers anymore but in New Mexico I really had an antenna farm. In AZ they had way too many restrictions in town so I just let it go. But New Mexico was a real blast. I had an all band radio up to 10 meters + a 2 meter also. 440 I was a bit short on the cash to get into that back then. I did a lot of tower climbing to buy what I had, funny but now you couldn't get me on one. :))

Beer is cold...Cheers

Sigh, and all I had was a CB 1/4 wave ......

Oh I think we all went through that one, thats what got me started in ham radio. I wish I had some pictures of some of my antenna's I had. One was 32 feet wide and 33 feet long hung at 55 feet. :) It must have been 200 pounds.
