So get your last licks in here, if you have anything to add.

Don't forget to watch the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football!

Sunday's quarterback matchup to watch:
Alex Smith (49ers) vs Peyton Manning (Colts)

Just as a matter of fact, Chritstmas was an invention of the early Christian church. They were quite upset that even their converts were still celebrating, along with non-believers, the old Roman custom of the Saturalia which coincides with the winter solistice. Since no one knew when Jesus Christ was born, so they decided unilaterly to declare that he was born during the same period as the solistice.

Personally, I have no problems with Xmas. I just observe the Solistice. However, this leaves me to much ridicule by the rightous "Believers." Oh, well...maybe I'm being motivated in giving back what I get. You obviously don't like it, and neither should you. Get my point?

Time for din-dins, see ya'll around the campus. May the Force be with us.

You are quit correct. As we don't know Jeus's actual birthday it will do as good as any.

Easter is an invention of the early Church as well to "legalize the spring celebration that the pagans had (and were still having), but it is a celebration of new life. As Christians are "born again" it is a good reminder of the events that led to this being able to happen.

I am not sure about your "point". If you mean that you don't celabrate Christmas, it's not that I don't like it, I jsut think you are missing out.

Jim

My point was that religious people tend to attack those that disagree with them, or who are different. I was just putting the shoe on the other foot to see how it felt. Frankly, I don't like attacking someone else's belief, which makes me wonder what all these religious zealots get out of it, i.e. knocking and/or attempting to control other people's lives.

Good question. Even when I was fairly fundimentelist and new a few people who did that, I didn't understand their attitude, and still don't. I do rremember that I tossed out God with church for many many years. It wasn't until I met people who were Christian, and didn't attend a main stream church, that Jesus became real to me.
Jesus said "you will know my disciples by their fruit". These people were not "religious", their church met on a Wend. night in a home, and they lived their faith on a day to day basis, not just on a Sunday. Thru them I became a follower of Jesus, and I am still one.
I guess I just told you my testmony, didn't plan on that.

May God bless.

What I hear from you is that you are a spiritual person, believing in a certain religion, and leading a humanist life. I myself have a dolope of the first, none of the second, and heaps of the third. The bottom line to me is tolerance, respect, appreciation, and good deeds.

My the Force be with you.

Close, but I am not religious. I am also ignorent of the "humanist" life.

To me religion is man trying to please God. All religions do things to please god, or reconsile themselves to god, or to get something from god(however they view god).

In Judiasim and Christianity this is not possible. It is God who does the reconsiling. Jews are still awaiting the messiah, Christians believe that Jesus the Christ was that messiah.

Christians should do things, not to get, but because we already have. That doesn't mean that we are any better than anyone else, we just have a different motivation. If you are at all interested try reading John's gospel.

May God be with you.

Geeeez you two! What word in NOW CLOSED don't you understand?

So, what is the reason you don't want to post in Religious Thread[5]? Is the thread too short, or do you want your very own thread?
