So it's all very well to read the Mail and say absolutely outrageous, what is the Council doing about it. Would you rather they close a couple of schools, or collect your rubbish once a month, or shut another police station?

This would have been an excellent post except for the above. We are aware that the media slant their reports to suit themselves, but the point is that the facts speak for themselves regardless of the slant. So...

Council Tax is meant to provide the services you mention above, however we are seeing this and if you have a problem with the source there is the Freedom of Information Act to confirm it, so use it if you feel the media is wrong. you often tell posters to write to their local councils/MP's etc, so for once, why don't you check the facts via FOI.

My statement above was all to do with the way people are abusing others with
illegal housing and nothing to do with what the council are doing to combat it.
We are clearly getting the rouge type landlords going in to renting just like
they do, but in greater quantities, in these second rate countries.

I do not place "store" in the media. Just because the Mail is a paper that runs down your party, you see red without taking note of the facts in the story. You attack the messenger instead.

Disjointed? you're stating political B/S as usual. You yourself have stated that the system needs reforming. Of course local councils need funds to provide the various services, and your post forgets that you have also agreed on the outrageous salaries provided within these councils.

How many times have you stated that "Government contracts" are your pet hate? So you can display your hatred but anyone else showing their dislike not for the system itself but the stupidity within it and you run them down.

I agree Sirius, if Chris dearly would love to see change he'd need to step
away from the three main parties to see any chance of it ever happening.
There's no ideal wonder party out there but there are those who advocate
fundamental change to how the UK is managed/run. The three main political parties
are now very much dysfunctional in many ways and much of this has come about
by rendering themselves subservient to Brussels. To think that currently we
can't go Fracking in the UK unless we gain Brussels approval first. There's a rat
in the Brussels kitchen regarding Fracking, well I smell one anyway, and it
could be to do with controlling what price UK's Fracking energy can be discount priced
when sold within the UK.

Maybe, but I think there are bigger rats in Westminster. If Maggie had not been ousted by those treacherous Europhiles within her own party, she would have gone on to win another election.
