Sounds like he was offered the money, rather than demanding it. And if they're offering such a generous payout, he'd be a fool not to take it.

A sad day for Britain.

Portsmouth Shipbuilding cut

The annoying thing for me is this statement in the report...

"As I reported yesterday, one well-placed source told me that the government was "acutely conscious of the politics of the Clyde" and did not want to give Alex Salmond a gift a little less than a year ahead of the independence referendum."

So no thoughts about the grief that will cause those whose livelihoods at stake then....

No doubt they wouldn't, so lets see what they do about this for clearly someone
has been careless here.

Unfortunately, there have been too many cases like this. Most have shown respect for the service they put in as well as their country and did not step up to the plate.

I cannot blame Jolene for doing this as MP's have only got themselves to blame for all the derogatory remarks made about them.

It is time they stood up just like the service personal stand up for the country when the chips are down.

I would hope the idiot who did this will get a reprimand. But I doubt it. It seems you have dolts who work for the system, Just like we do over on this side of the pond.

Unfortunately James, that's become the norm over the past several decades. To make matters worse, there are those who don't like that being made public.

Mustn't hang our dirty laundry for all to see. Just like your last election showed, there's too much apathy, so those who do want to see change have no chance.

It seems somebody did stand up.

"Sirius B -

On Monday I started a petition for my husband to receive his full military pension and last night I found out he will.

After months of worry it is a huge relief to finally hear my husband will receive his pension.

I first raised my fears in the media in June but it wasn't until my petition on Change.org that the Ministry of Defence said Michael's transfer request will also stall his redundancy.

The response to our petition has been fantastic and somewhat overwhelming. We are so grateful to the 100,000 people who have responded and continue to spread the word, your efforts have not been in vain and we are so grateful to you all.

We hope that others in similar situations have the courage to ask for help because with the support of Great British public, it is achievable.

Pension Justice for Troops, a group of former service men and women and their relatives, have started a new petition asking the Prime Minister to review the treatment of all soldiers made redundant within a whisper of qualifying for their petition.

Thank you all,
Jolene"

Couldn't think where to put this, but seeing that it would be nice for someone from the government to attend and as he was a distant relative of a former PM, put it here. It would also be a fine show of remembrance as the service is on Armistice Day.

Sad Britain.....

With two days to go, a timely report.....

Britain's forgotten fallen

..they died for this.....

This royal throne of kings, this scepter’d isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

I think it should be compulsory for schools to arrange visits. The best would be Holland where they will see schoolchildren of today visit and remember the fallen.

The Dutch put Britain to shame!

On armistice day
The philharmonic will play
But the songs that we sing
Will be sad

Most probably changed to Veterans day so that when all these old veterans have passed away they can then cancel the remembrance and all because none are left
alive....it would not surprise me....I hope they don't.
