I see Cleggy got his sums wrong, Nick Clegg defends free school meals for children aged six and seven Deputy PM says extra £150m required will come from Treasury and underspend in schools maintenance budget As anybody who has been involved with maintenance budgets knows, from the beginning of the year until the last moment maintenance money is only spent on absolute necessities and then you spend whats left (+10%) on the "to-do list". So of course at this time of year the maintenance budget is underspent. About time he changed his job and learnt about the real world. |

So of course at this time of year the maintenance budget is underspent. And as you very well know is, that you have to manipulate your budget. But because the person at the top has made a cock up and "stolen" your funds the things at the top of your "to-do list" not done this year will turn up as emergencies next year. Which costs extra and when examined by the audit team gets you a black mark. And then you get the opposite case where the manager runs "by the book" and has no funds left by the end of Feb, when along comes a storm, a few tiles are lifted, and there is water damage to the ceiling etc. and he gets a black mark because he has to ask for emergency funding. So the best course is to manipulate the budget locally and kick the idiots out of office who cannot do their sums. |

What a pair of losers, they deserve each other! More vehicle recognition cameras are going to be installed to catch the dodgers. It's notable that the tax dodgers amount to around 0.6% of motorist's on the road. Yet insurance dodgers run much lower at around 0.28% of road users. It looks like the road tax dodger figures are going to rise now that the general public, who report around 0.2% of tax dodgers wont now be able to do so once the tax disc gets dropped. Looks like we will be seeing many more vehicle recognition cameras being installed on all our major roads in time. Yes, but do you see the sneaky move behind it all? Many in the country are in a cost-of-living crisis and this muppet thinks we're all stupid in thinking that monthly D/D's will reduce our outgoings... ...Really Ozzie, are you really that thick? An extra 5% a month "Admin fee" - is that for you or your pals the bankers? |

Yes, but do you see the sneaky move behind it all? That 5% I expect will go to the Exchequer. As regards admin charges!! what admin charges? everything will be fully computer orientated without the need of humans doing much if anything at all. Of course, an updated computer system will be required...no doubt worth £50 million but the government ends up paying several hundred million for it. We shall see, the existing DLVC computer system I would have thought should be able to cater for this extra payload placed upon it? Then in a few years time there will be a mounting pile of cases of "mistaken identity" either due to the inability of the system to read the number plate, or mistaken data entry and there will be a return of some form of "tax disk" to rapidly demonstrate the payment of the tax... Or am I just being cynical? Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

No problems as yet with the on-line system for paying your road fund licence. Here as you know your MOT and car insurance are already logged against your vehicle enabling you to pay for your road fund licence on-line. The current system reports back to you all your details enabling you to check for accuracy. If you fail to notice an error then that's down to "YOU"....but not "YOU" Rob, but them other "YOU's". No not cynical, plain truthful as I put odds on that will eventually happen. More taxpayers money wasted in rectifying something that shouldn't have been messed with in the first place. |

There is always a Luddite or bah humbug reaction to new technology. A bit more research and you would realise that where technology is concerned, it's not a case of being a luddite. Too much reliance is being put on technology without any backup in place. Reliable technology at work How would the authorities fare if the DVLA database crashed? Even the police are beginning to rely too much on technology instead of using their common sense. |

This is going to be fun to implement I don't see why. I already buy my car tax online. They debit my card, update the database and post me a new disk. All that really changes is they skip the last part, saving the printing and postage costs. The money saved from which i have no doubt will be passed on to the motorist! (I wish!) Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Even the police are beginning to rely too much on technology instead of using their common sense. A problem with the entire human race, not just coppers. Dependence on advanced technology and the lack of encouragement for people to think and resolve their own problems will result in the downfall of humanity. With IVF, we are already the only species that has made sterility an hereditary trait. T.A. |

Rather than spend 9-5 on Net forums, spend some time watching TV - Traffic Cops/Road Wars/Sky Cops - They have admitted as much themselves. Or is that my personal opinion? The money saved from which i have no doubt will be passed on to the motorist! (I wish!) You really do need to hit that RESET button! |

I see Cleggy got his sums wrong, Nick Clegg defends free school meals for children aged six and seven Right about that. Education Dept gone rogue say Lib-Dems "For Labour, shadow education minister Lucy Powell said: "David Cameron and Nick Clegg scrapped Labour's plans to extend free meals for school children on taking office." So JUST what are you up to Cleggie? |

Unfortunately I don't have the time, like you apparently do. For a retiree, you sure spout a lot of crap. There are many who DO NOT work 9-5. I believe you travel on trains do you not? Go shopping, visit parliament etc etc. For the uninitiated, British TV have catch-up TV as well as their own versions of the BBC's iPlayer and as Truck Drivers are required by Law to take a break, laptops come in very handy. As a Lib-Dem supporter, any comment on your glorious leader nicking the ideas of others and claiming them for himself a la free school dinners? |

Nick Clegg defends free school meals for children aged six and seven Defend as much as he likes, why the hell are we tax payers having to pay for these kids, there not ours!! Next thing we know we will be both clothing them and buying them presents for Christmas too. Should've got a medal. Time we fought by the enemy's rules.... ..wait a minute, they don't have any! Snivel serpents castigated "He strongly criticised the MoD's oversight of the project." |
