45 or so days without rain here in Stockton. Mileage may vary in other parts of the state. Early spring temps during the day and near to normal temps at night. Pluto will always be a planet to me. ![]() Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

Got a nice lil storm pummeling the region here east of Philly, 8"-10" snow since 9am and another 3"-5" expected by 10pm. Temps now 15F and dropping to 6F overnight with 20-30mph gusts. These type of "Nor-Easters" happen quite often in the mid-atlantic region, though usually the precipitation is rain. Every 3-5 years however, we get bombed...and well, its been about 3 years since the last significant snow storm. :) |

Chicago and especially northwest Indiana really got hammered with lake effect snow. Officially 11"+ at O'Hare and Midway. Out here, 28 miles west of downtown, I don't think we got 2". But that just means we got in on the deep freeze all the sooner. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

I'd trade the cold & snow for some of our rain! Rained last night, been raining this morning - and chilly with it, worst combination! Have to feel sorry for THESE PEOPLE - There is another 2 deluges expected this week, there is no way at all they'll be pumped dry for at least another week or so. |

You could have my temps gladly. My outside temp reads -3.6 F. I know my sig shows a warmer temperature, But that is 20 miles south and at the airport. I think its those jet engines warming the air. Last night when I went to bed it was -14 F. ![]() Old James |

I stayed in Lapland a couple of years ago and it was regularly below -30C at night, but as their properties are built for it, it wasn't a problem. Being outside in it though soon wore you down, despite having all the right gear with us. Never felt so weighted down by clothes before! |

My thermometer said about -6F when I left the house. The WeatherBug a mile away said -3.6 when I got on my computer here at work. (I don't know what anyone's signature weather thing says anymore. I got tired of waiting for large gifs to download and turned off viewing signatures.) Latest forecast is for <10 today, 22 tomorrow, 19 Saturday, and falling all day Sunday. High of -2 on Monday and not much better Tuesday. Wouldn't be surprised if we have another emergency day on Monday and maybe a late start Tuesday, if the forecast holds up. strange white substance is covering the ground You got that too? Check to see if there may be some ripped feather pillows near you...... It has been so warm around here that a very large amount of our white stuff has been disappearing. Now every day we have been getting a blue colouring up in the sky...... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The Somerset floods in the UK have now been decalred a Major Incident (about time really, you'd have thought that anywhere cut off for a month wouild have been declared "major" a long time ago!) Fortunately I'm further North than the badly affected area, not far enough North to escape this relentless rain though. Just 2 dry days so far this month! |

About damn time too. It took me 8-1/2 hours on Christmas eve to drive from London to South Devon, via Wiltshire, close to Bristol, and the M5. Usually takes 3 hours. I have no faith in the Environment Agency at all, that they are on top of any incident. It is part of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs which used to be called the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and is headed by Owen Paterson since September 2012. Clearly he needs to get a grip. You should try living here. Plenty of roads closed & have been for weeks. Last weekend the water was so deep on my own driveway it prevented friends that had been here for a meal from leaving. The whole of the Somerset levels are in danger of this being the worst floods for decades currently. As you may know, this area is below sea level at high tides, so only a limited number of hours a day that water can be pumped away and with Spring tides coming up, less hours than normal. The article I Linked to has been updated. They are now building a pontoon for the rescue boats, so obviously expecting a deteriorating situation otherwise they wouldn't spend the money! |

Not looking good Andy I have to admit. Large areas of Surrey, Kent, and Sussex are also under water. Thing is, I wonder if a change of strategy is needed, given the changing climate. Rather than spend millions of £s protecting property from water, spend the money building new homes, out of the danger areas and relocate people. The Somerset levels flooded very badly in 2010, again last year, but this year the floods are like nothing before (caused by rain & excepting the 18th Century Storm Surge). |
