As a Brit though I have to ask: is it shaken or stirred :)

As a Bond fan, mine are always shaken. :-)

USA West Wing series. Typical Americans, no style or panache :-)

Weak martini.

The actual recipe from the book Casino Royale (1953)

Bond first ordered a drink to be shaken in Fleming's novel Casino Royale (1953) when he requested a drink of his own invention which would later be referred to as a "Vesper", named after the Bond girl, Vesper Lynd. After meeting his CIA contact Felix Leiter for the first time, Bond orders the drink from a barman while at the casino.

'A dry martini,' he said. 'One. In a deep champagne goblet.'
'Oui, monsieur.'
'Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?'
'Certainly monsieur.' The barman seemed pleased with the idea.
'Gosh, that's certainly a drink,' said Leiter.
Bond laughed. 'When I'm...er...concentrating,' he explained, 'I never have more than one drink before dinner. But I do like that one to be large and very strong and very cold, and very well-made. I hate small portions of anything, particularly when they taste bad. This drink's my own invention. I'm going to patent it when I think of a good name.'

Unfortunately, I have not read any of the books; I've only seen the movies. ...and, actually, in one Connery movie the bad guy offers him a Vodka Martini, "stirred, not shaken". Connery doesn't correct him, either.

About to head out into the sunny cold. Wherever and whenever I stop for lunch and dinner, I think I'll get hot tea instead of iced. But still black with Splenda.

That sounds a lot like the Chinese curse - "May You live in Interesting Times". Tangled in the multiverse ,,, More fun than the World-Wide Web.

Sorry if I'm meandering ... haven't had coffee or breakfast yet. Oh, waiter! Eggs Benedict with grilled hashed-brown potatoes, two Chicken sausage links, a small bowl of diced melon, and a large mug of coffee, please. Thanks much.

Slept late and just had breakfast at 1pm. Sour cream biscuit bake again, with shredded cheddar, pieces of bacon, and pieces of brown and serve-type sausage mixed in. Also a handful of garlic bread flavored potato chips, crumbled up; won't do that again. And cut way down on the butter, but replaced some of it with the bacon grease. When it was done, topped my serving with two eggs over easy, also cooked in the bacon grease.

Maybe I should take an extra dose of my cholesterol med today...
