Mind you, this protest (different link; don't bother watching the video, it's just the anchor reading the text of the story) didn't happen at just any McD's, it happened at the Rock N Roll Mcdonald's.

FWIW, there are 5 McD'ses in Rapid City, about 22 miles from Mt. Rushmore.

The key to good tasting coffee I found, is cleaning the coffee pot once every 1 to 2 weeks, more often if more people are drinkin coffee, anything else results in bitter tasting coffee. But the basket where the grounds go is to be cleaned daily.

I made a variation on 7UP biscuits this morning. The basic recipe is

1C sour cream
1C 7UP
4C bisquick
1/2C butter (1/4 lb., 1 stick)

Melt the butter in a baking pan. Combine the rest of the ingredients to form soft dough, shape biscuits, place in pan on top of melted butter, and bake at 425F for 15 minutes.

Rather than shaping biscuits, I always just pour the batter into the pan. Since I use a 9x9" pan, it takes longer to cook, so I go at 350F for 35 minutes or so. Also, online suggestions I've seen said to increase the Bisquick so the dough won't be so sticky, but when I used enough to do that the result was very dry.

This time, I'd already started when I remembered I didn't have any sour cream, so I used buttermilk instead. I have used diet generic lemon-lime soda every time except the first; I think it works fine, but I don't like the lemon-lime flavor hint in the finished product. I went with 4 1/2C of Bisquick (actually, store brand), which was still pretty sticky, but then the buttermilk is wetter than sour cream. I also broke a couple of frozen pre-cooked breakfast sausages in half and buried the pieces in the four quadrants of the pan. When I checked it at 40 minutes, it seemed good, but I stuck it back in the turned-off oven while I cooked a couple of eggs over easy. I was right, it was perfect.

Oh yeah, I also mixed in about half a package of shredded cheddar. I can't really tell that it's there. Maybe I'll try a whole package next time.
