Friday afternoon Beer O'clock is now in full swing here and priming up for the weekend. :-D

I can handle Vodka but Rum is way too sweet for me and makes me sick.

Yeah, I don't like sweet rums either which is why I make my own. ;-)

Cheers.

In the day I liked 151 proof
rum for my morning coffee.

[quote]TGIF! It's POETS's day ;-))

Then there is everclear which will knock your socks off and is 150 proof. It was 180 proof until the US banded anything over 150 proof so it went off the shelf for a while but is back. Nothing quicker that can screw you into the ground faster than that stuff. :)) My daughters friend drank too much and dropped dead on his front lawn. (18 years old)

BTW great stuff for cleaning a printer. Really

Everclear is a brand name of an American company Luxco (formerly David Sherman corporation) for a rectified spirit distilled from grains. It is bottled at 151-proof (75.5% ABV) and 190-proof (95% ABV).

Anyone who drinks that will end up in ER/AE damaged for life.

I agree ! but you could have the fastest car in town if dumped in your tank. :)) 0 to 60 in 1.2 seconds. :)) One would need a puddy knife to scrape you off the back window. :))

I can do better than that:

We just have this lying around in the lab, 200 proof!

As a serviceman I always had friends who worked
in the hospital who could supply me with enough
hooch to help me with the ability to fortify my
home made wines.

The worst that we ever did was to pour 1/2 bottle of surgical spirit into the Nurses Home annual Xmas party punch to give it some bite.

My son once told me he went to a xmas party for workers at his wifes place of work and they was drinking shooters with everclear. Got wiped out needless to say. :)) These were mostly doctors, good thing I didn't need to go in at that time. :)) Nah, I'll stick to beer myself.

Likely to burn the valves out in the same time I would also imagine. Lethal stuff like that really has no business being sold to the general public. No wonder it was banned.

For many years I drove a Ford E-100 van with a 351 Windsor engine. About once a month I put a quart of Everclear in the (20-gal) gas tank when I filled up, to clean the carburator.

During the 80's I had something like this, but I either had to get a 50/50 115avgas/leaded super mix in the 32/imp gal (144L) tank or run a 1/imp gal (4.5L) methanol/water mix injection system per tank of old time leaded super just to prevent pinging (the 1st was easy as the refinery wasn't far away from me to get the blend pumped straight into the tank, but the methanol/water injection system was only used on long distance runs though it was expensive to run and at a loss of about 4% of power).

Those were the days.

Cheers.

In the 50's and early 60's we had one gas station that had very high octane gas, we would run one tank about 2 times a year which did the trick on long trips and the pipes were clean after that. like you it wasn't cheap but the MPG was up a lot. Dry gas was the item in the winter for freezing gas lines.

Medical students and trainee nurses do/did have a bit of a reputation for partying hard.

BTW, your spam flight when getting into SFO might be a little hard as of the 28th to the sept 3rd to go to UCB, the bay bridge will be closed to make the change over to the new bridge. :)) It's been about 10 years in the making.

Is it smart or dumb to do that on a holiday weekend?

There are other trans-Bay bridges, both to the north and south of the Bay Bridge. Many people who can will take BART, to avoid the holiday gridlock entirely.

And the sooner they get the new span on service, the sooner they can start demolition on the old one. In construction, time is money.

If Beer o'clock begins when one gets home from work, then mine is in about 5 hours. (But I still don't like beer.)
