Recreational firearm use is one thing, what I was highlighting was :-

fire a weapon in self defense.

To teach 6 year olds that they NEED to use a gun to stay alive is just totally wrong. That is the context I was against.

And 6yolds SHOULD damned well know how to fire a weapon in self defense.

No way whatsoever is that right or proper, in any civilised society. If that is the sort of place that you live in that you feel that 6 year olds need to fire guns, then I seriously suggest you move to another part of the country or maybe another country altogether.

That is totally OTT even for you at the weekend.

I taught all my daughters how to shoot. The youngest was 5. I wanted them to know how to safely handle a firearm. Plus they and I had fun.

I qualified expert with the M-16 A1 at 100 yards when in the US Air Force. My youngest daughter had to quailify with the M-16 A4 at 500 yards before she was deployed to Iraq in 05.

I have 5 daughters. Two are totaly against any kind of fire arms. And 3 like the shooting sports. There are no family fights. I respect there choice they respect mine.

The point is the 2nd amendment dosent force you to have a firearm. If you pee your pants when you hear the word firearm then you definatly should not have one.
