The current veesion, 259.36 for NVIDIA GeForce GT 420, does work well.
However, the newest version, 320.18, can not process any SETI@home task.
For example, AstroPulse v6 6.04 (opened_nvidia_100) shows "schduler wait".
I tryed 296.28 and 266.58, but they don't work, too.

please tell me the solution.

Try the latest version, round about 320ish and see what happens.
I've a similar age card to yours (a gtx460) and have found the newest version to be even more stable and marginally quicker than the old versions you have been trying.

Possibly, but it depends on the game.

The newer drivers are optimized for recent games.
