This just appeared on my Invalid Tab,

I see why it took so long to appear but how is it marked invalid with no

corroborating tasks validated together

It is marked Invalid because your uploaded file has got lost, that's why it is a Validate error, while your wingman's result is just inconclusive, without your uploaded file the validator will never be able to compare your result with your wingmen,
So its Invalid.

I, too, am curious as I suddenly have 3 of these - so where did our files go?

The validator didn't need to look until your wingman returned his result today.

That is not the uploaded file, that is the stderr.txt a text file with only some of the data, it is only a visual indication of how progress went.

Thanks, i didn't knew that.
But the question remains, who or what lost that file? The BOINC client tries again and again to upload everything until in return it gets an acknowledgement from the server. So all files "should" have reached the server and only *afterwards* they could get lost. So... :?

Five of these just showed up on my account as well. Might look like seti version 6 validation has stopped working.

Probably lost on the Server afterwards, in one of the server or filesystem relocations, it happens occasionally.

as it happens I have 7 too, all from today, all reported at 19:45:03 UTC (But other tasks did validate O.K):

Invalid SETI@home v7 tasks for computer 5427475

It also used to happen if you reported too soon after a outage, or had 'report results immediately' set, either the storage wasn't available for the validator to look at, or there was a too short a gap between uploading and reporting.

AFAIK we crashed today and didn't come up before maintenance.
But then we were back up for only a few minutes before we went down again, so there must have been some problem.

Doesn't surprise me we lost some files with that...

I was wondering if I was the only one - seems as though a few of us have been hit with this oddity - I had two MB Enhanced tasks just come up with the validate error as well.

Thanks for the explanation, at least I know what happened now.

Yes, we had some weirdness today with the validators. Some stuff was getting marked as inconclusive but still getting credit, other this were getting marked as invalid. I'm marking everything that was marked as invalid for revalidation.

I had this happen to me as well and it looks as if they purged all outstanding MB V6 from the system. The option to accept them no longer exist, all of my MB V6 that have been pending or inconclusive, some 20+, are now gone except for the one that got tagged invalid that I did back in April.

What the heck is going on here? Nice warning if planned.

Edit: I see what happened, you simply can't select Seti Enhanced as a project anymore but the WU are still there, just only available if you select ALL projects.

Actually it looks like revalidation is making the problem worse. I'm bringing the validators down until I can figure out what's going on.

Wouldn't you know it.

I just installed another GTX 560 in my PC and set it to crunching after I was satasfied with the temps. I checked the webpage 5 hours later to see how it was going.

Hmmm, a few Invalids, I must have something not quite right. Reinstall drivers, adjust cooling scheme.

Then I notice another machine has a couple of Invalids. I checked here and find out it's not just me. What a relief.

For a different twist on this, had one task flagged invalid and has now been shifted to validation inconclusive but only other computer has reported this task. However that lucky single computer had their task both validated and granted credit. Creates the impression that the long discussed "trusted computer" had been implemented. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=1229264120[/url]

OK. I think I've got most of it cleaned up. A credit granter is running to grant credit for all non-validated tasks.

There was a change to the validator in the last 12 hours that may be related to this. The validator no longer considers v6 results valid when they are returned for v7 workunits.
