A lost opportunity.....

French police step up watch on drivers

"But the UK opt-out means that foreign drivers on British soil are also unlikely to be fined for offences, unless British police catch them on the spot too."

Yep, that is correct. It's all a bit tit for tat isn't it.

Not really, it's about time that common sense was applied to our highways. For once Europe got it right.

We know all that as you've constantly banged your bongo's loud enough. Change is needed as you also agree with but as it stands it won't happen.....

...so what next.....

...a continuation of the United Kingdom of Thieves & Con-artists?

Edit: Case in point...

For once calm heads get it right within the MoD......

Military object to wind turbine

"It said: "Wind turbines have been shown to have detrimental affects on the performance of MoD air traffic control and range control radars"

Yet the proposal still went through? Money talks, common sense walks!

Edit 2: Come one, come all. Get your tickets here.....

Somehow it's got to, which is why I for one welcome the UKIP protest vote. It is meant to give the main parties a kick up the backside, and I think it is doing that. What we need to be careful of is not getting too enthusiastic, and handing them to much power they wouldn't know what to do with.

That's the danger. either too much or too little, so in other words, nothing's going to change....

...at least in our lifetimes.

I wonder if he will really be acting just as a political lobbyist on behalf of his

Nearly a decade on & its now they're only admitting they made a mistake?

Typical muppets

& we're still handing over foreign aid to them?

WTH is the matter with this country?

Greed at its worst

£29 one off levy at 14,000,000 = £406,000,000 that still leaves over £1.2 billion in profit......

Really does make one wonder

While I don't agree with that subsidy I think you might want to consider how lucky Londoners are, my combined water bill is nearly £450/annum and that is not considered high.

My cousin in the South West has bills of £500 and that is after a subsidy of £50 from the government, in recognition that their bills are much higher than rest of the country.

After a close perusal i realized that the Seti:Politics forum is all about the English whining about everything under the British Sun. I imagine that if i had to live in the UK i'd be miserable also. You have my sympathy.

As expected from you

ROFLMAO

Hmmn, would you care to tell everyone why you still participate in the politics forum?

You are all getting totally neurotic .....
It's about the level that Seti politics has sunk to these days.
About time I walked elsewhere.

Cameron's spokesman should have anticipated that questions on fracking considering the headlines saying that Cameron wants the the country to back fracking.

It would not be a bad idea if he was to do something that showed he personally liked the idea, like issue a license for his home patch, or move to a place where fracking has been licensed.

The 'is fracking good or bad' debate ultimately boils down to which side is worth listening to.

In the 'good' camp: many hundreds of scientists, engineers and industry experts who have conducted thousands of hours of research and studies into the benefits, risks and potential side effects of fracking, to ensure that their advice represents the soundest recommendation for the industry, and have concluded that fracking results in large gains with minimal risks.

In the 'bad' camp, a few dozen hand-wringing reactionary hippies who know very little about what they're trying to stop, and only have the time to protest because they don't have proper jobs to go to.

Guess which side i'm on.

He is obviously looking to the future after 2015, by lining up a job within his realm of experience, and that is a reasonable thing to do. But his timing sucks. It doesn't matter if it's only 1 day a week, his constituents will feel that they've been put on the back burner. Not very savvy for an ex Minister, and maybe noted by his new employers.

If he's not seeking re-election, i don't think annoying a few local voters will really bother him.

9 Green bottles siting on the street......

What a load of rubbish! "Saved £500,000" So the residents can expect a Council Tax reduction? Dream on Sirius, Dream on!

How long before we get that "fearful" 10th bin? The one where we put our dead in to be desposed of at the local incinerator as developers want to get their hands on all available land?

I'd hate that, i want to throw stuff away, not file it!

Where i live has quite a good system, we have a wheelie bin for non-recyclable stuff, and orange bin liners for all recyclable stuff. Two bins is very manageable.
