I was cleaning spyware from the laptop when I tried to download "GPU Caps Viewer", back before I posted the temperature was 102*C. Think it was a faulty download I got it from although it was CNet so who knows. Sorry for the delay.

SpeedFan still reports that the GPU is at 56*C although TechPowerUP (GPU-Z) still says it's at 102*C. Think I'll side with SpeedFan on this one as I've used it longer. (HD1 is 36*C, Temp1 is 63*C, GPU is 56*C in speed fan if that helps any.)

I'm running the Demo right now and I'm getting some sort of weird image that looks like a screen saver. I hope that's the correct thing. Temperatures on both haven't wildly fluctuated at all.

Edit: I minimized it and I'm getting between GPU 1: 56*C - 59*C so I'll just assume the GPU-Z is faulty. Do you have a site where you downloaded GPU-Z from? I think the site I got it from might have had a bad source like the version of "GPU Caps Viewer". Anyway I've been up for a very long time so I'm going to sleep now and will work on this in the morning.

Never get anything from CNet (they wrap the original installers of any free program with their installer pushing adware!)

I think you already have/used SIV but refuse to give values from it:
http://www.rh-software.com/
http://www.rh-software.com/downloads/siv.zip

I don't trust very much SpeedFan as it gives wrong names to sensors (what is shown as GPU may be e.g. the chipset)

Don't "assume the GPU-Z is faulty"
Does the reading form GPU-Z correspond (is the same) as in "GPU Caps Viewer" and SIV?

This is yet another program (click 'Sensors'):
http://www.hwinfo.com/

And yet another
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

(and there are even more)

If all they (made by different programmers) show the same and SpeedFan shows very different value - guess what I will trust.

For GPU-Z the first link in Google is correct:
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

I think with real 103C laptop will do hard shutdown w/o any task restarts and so on. ctually, much earlier than 103C would be reached. So lets return to app issue.
I don't see any exits running app on my C-60 (with VLAR! hardest test ;) ). So, it's BOINc thing.
Try to get some older BOINC version. TBar showed that in 7.1.x BOINC API definitely broken, all app exited preliminary on his host. When he returned to 7.0.64 such exits stopped. Maybe for this host even more old BOINC needed.

In general I think such exits w/o traces is very bad programming style but have no time right now to pursue BOINC devs to fix this. Reason of exit should be given always.
Will hack BOINC API in relevant areas if will have some time maybe.
And I see no reason of such silent exits in own code. All places of possible exit that I checked always return reason of exit to user (via stderr).

CPUID says the AMD A10-4600M has a value of 111*C currently with a max of 121*C.

SpeedFan still reads GPU at 57*C

SIV64X reads temperature at 58*C

And GPU-Z still reads 104*C. So clearly something is confusing it.

Regardless I haven't received a system restart from heat so I don't know if it's relevant or not.

I'll try running an older version of of BOINC to see if it works. I still have 7.0.28 on my system so I'll trying running on that.

Edit: The older version of BOINC has registered progress on the task with issues. It's at about 6% I'll check back later to see if it got past the crucial 20% or not.

Edit 2: Well past the 20% barrier. I'm currently at 35% and it seems to be going very steadily. I'll assume it's an issue with the newer BOINC version then unless I have an issue later down the line.

Very interesting, nothing was indicating (in messages) that BOINC may be somehow interfering.
(maybe it's something with BOINC API and shared memory (used for communication between the apps and BOINC))

SIV64X reads temperature at 58*C

I most trust SIV
(looks like it matches SpeedFan "GPU at 57*C" (+-1 is normal due to fluctuations, rounding (57.5 may be shown 57 or 58), exact time of reading (SIV reads every 2 sec)))

I don't know what sensors are inside this CPU/GPU combo (e.g. 1 sensor for the entire chip, 2 sensors for CPU and GPU parts separately, or even more (every CPU core with own sensor))

Can you post screenshot from SIV ? (of course taken when CPU+GPU are busy with SETI)
(if you don't know how to post picture you may post the text version - use the [Copy] button in SIV (this way you can even remove some info from the text that you may consider as private before posting))

Granted I had my laptop shut off during a thunderstorm for a few hours so it might be on the low side but I'd had BOINC/Seti running for about 10 minutes when I copied that.

10 minutes is usually enough to reach stable temperature.

All looks very good.

(There are 2 internal sensors for CPU and GPU parts of the chip separately - 63°C and 56°C
There is external sensor on the motherboard under the CPU/GPU package - Temp 61.0°C (60-63)

The 3 values shown as "ACPI Embedded Controller MB 61°C ACPI 62°C 62°C" are probably repeating the same sensor value (the one under the CPU/GPU)
- this is not fault of SIV as it just shows what the motherboard sensor chip reports.
If even in idle computer these values are almost the same as what is shown at the right (where now is "Temp 61.0°C (60-63)") then they represent one and the same sensor.

Pity there are no fan speed readings (is there a fan or only passive cooling?)
)

Now that all seems to work OK you may want to enable computing on one more core and see will you like it and is it still stable:
(you'll see 4 tasks: 3 CPU and 1 GPU, this may/will make CPU hotter (>63°C internal temperature) but I can't know how much exactly, just experiment to see)

On multiprocessors, use at most 99% of the processors

(I think you now have:
On multiprocessors, use at most 50% of the processors
Anything 75-99% will make BOINC start 3 CPU tasks (on your 4 core CPU)
)

Well, good to know that you can process SETI MB tasks on GPu part of your APU now.
If you have some more time for testing try this build with newer BOINC (where you saw silent exits).
It's built vs hacked BOINC API to print message into stderr when boinc_exit() called. At least we will maybe know how app exit.
