If its on the 660, theyre now sending vlars to kepler gpus as they appear to be able to process them. They take a bit of time, but they should still process ok Thanks Mike, that answers one question. The other is why the tasks were suspended in the first place. BoincTasks is only used as a snapshot viewer only as stated. ![]() ![]() I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

A minor issue with the installer. When installing MB v7 on my Intel Celeron M370, the installer greys out anything other than stock installation. I know it supports SSE2 so I will extract that one manually. OK, that's odd, but thanks for the report. If you get time, could you do a CPU-Z text report sometime on the machine, and let us have it? |

After running the installer including the brook gpu AstroPulse version I get the following start up message. I tried using my previous app_info.xml file (had been using the brook version previously) but it still gives the same messages. Not sure if this is an SETI or Lunatics problem. I have just disabled GPU processing for now to keep from trashing any more AP tasks. You'll need Raistmer/Mike to troubleshoot you beyond that. A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. (Mark Twain) |

Hmmm. Sorry, that's a bit more than I can handle "in the field", as it were. I hope one of our ATI specialists can drop by later, otherwise I'll take a look when I get home. In the meantime, stopping BOINC and uninstalling Lunatics may help - but if you don't mind waiting a bit, we'll get you sorted. |

Great job guys!! As someone using an AMD with a K10 core, a native SSE3 app would be much appreciated. Not everyone is using an Intel CPU with their growing alphabet soup of new advance instruction sets. Sorry for using a 2 year old AMD processor. They did say there wasnt a lot of difference between SSE2 & 3 so youll be fine with 2 until they have a chance to release that |

I have just disabled GPU processing for now to keep from trashing any more AP tasks. My GPU is a Radeon HD Mobility 3400 I'm interested in installing the Brook App on this Host, Computer 6796475. Right now I have a 2600XT & 4670 in the machine. I also have a 3650 standing by but replaced it with the 2600 due to the BOINC problems the 3650 was causing. Right now the 2600 is listed as 'Not Used' at startup. If I add <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> to the cc_config.xml file, BOINC tries to start an OpenCL AP on the 2600. This is the same problem I have with the 3650, plus, the 3650 seems to disrupt the 'Application details' even more than they are already disrupted :-( At present, I'm running 1 CPU AP on that machine. If the Brook App only uses 80% of the CPUs, I could run two instances of the Brook App. Is there any hope of running 2 APs with Brook, and one OpenCL AP with the 4670? 5/31/2013 5:33:04 AM | | Starting BOINC client version 7.0.64 for windows_intelx86 5/31/2013 5:33:04 AM | | Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz [Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6] 5/31/2013 5:33:04 AM | | OS: Microsoft Windows 8: Professional with Media Center x86 Edition, (06.02.9200.00) 5/31/2013 5:33:04 AM | | CAL: ATI GPU 0: ATI Radeon HD 4600 series (R730) (CAL version 1.4.1734, 1024MB, 992MB available, 960 GFLOPS peak) 5/31/2013 5:33:04 AM | | CAL: ATI GPU 1: (not used) ATI Radeon HD 2600/3650 (RV630/RV635) (CAL version 1.4.1734, 256MB, 224MB available, 336 GFLOPS peak) 5/31/2013 5:33:04 AM | | OpenCL: AMD/ATI GPU 0: ATI Radeon HD 4600 series (R730) (driver version CAL 1.4.1734, device version OpenCL 1.0 AMD-APP (938.2), 1024MB, 992MB available, 960 GFLOPS peak) 5/31/2013 5:33:04 AM | SETI@home | Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform... |

Can anyone tell me why after i install Lunatics, Boinc stop update it automatic after count down those 5 min ? It only helps if i manualy press a update button. Probably the tasks in your cache - either the ones you were crunching before, or the first few you received right after installing Lunatics - are temporarily being given wrong estimated runtimes. Do the estimates look right in BOINC Manager? (remembering that v7 tasks always take longer than v6, because they have more work to do). BOINC probably thinks you have enough work for the time being. You should see it asking for more as time passes (and before your cache is completely dry), but everything is going to be a little bit out of line for a day or two until it settles down. |

I'm puzzled by the problem I'm having. I get a bad app_info.xml file - just one line: "... a bad app_info.xml file - just one line:" <app_info> Since the line that do the merge is this: for %%s in (*.aistub) do echo %%s & type %%s | find /v "app_info" >> app_info.xml ... can you check that you have 'find' in your system (in CMD prompt) I tested now (in temp directory with some .aistub files in it) and if I change the line to this: for %%s in (*.aistub) do echo %%s & pause & type %%s | find /v "app_info" >> app_info.xml ... I can see it step by step. And if I change the line to this the file is aborted: for %%s in (*.aistub) do echo %%s & pause & type %%s | ffinddd /v "app_info" >> app_info.xml (aborted since this command do not exist: ffinddd) We discussed this issue ('empty' app_info.xml - just <app_info> in it) with Richard today (or yesterday?) but I only now have come to this idea. No probs, I'll install the SSE2 app manually. Have a nice dinner. Sten, I've had another idea. Could you download and run CPUFeatures-TestApp.zip from http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=355951 - take the updated one from the last post in the thread. Does that find the SSE2 support that CPU-Z does, indeed, report? That test app uses the same detection code our installer does now - if the test works, and the installer doesn't, blame my programming. Otherwise, we may have to report it back to LoRd_MuldeR. |

Install went the way it is supposed to. When Seti restarted GPUZ showed 0 GPU usage. I shut down Boinc and Seti. Then I restarted them and GPUZ showed 99% usage for a 30 seconds or so then back to zero. The task manager showed 100% CPU usage with or without the GPU running. Rebooted the computer and Seti started using the GPU at about 99% and promptly thrashed the AP it was working on with -5 (0xfffffffffffffffb) Unknown error number. I only had 3 hours into this heavily blank wu. Now it seems to be happily crunching another AP and my power meter shows I am using about 10 more watts than before. |

Install went the way it is supposed to. That looks like task 3016998379 It was started under OPENCL_NV rev 1316, but the error happened when it restarted with the new (installer supplied) r1843. I think Raistmer has warned in the past about changing AP OpenCL application versions mid-task, though I don't think he gave us a warning about this particular upgrade path. Other people planning to upgrade a host running AP on GPUs might find it safest to suspend cached tasks in the run-up to an upgrade, so that they can upgrade between - rather than during - tasks, at least until we can get Raistmer here to look at the error. |

No probs, I'll install the SSE2 app manually. Have a nice dinner. Yes, it's the known issue where the x264 feature detection code he used deliberately turns off the SSE2 flag for certain processors. That's because for the integer SIMD used by the x264 codec, MMX code is faster on those CPUs. Laptops with Pentium-M, Core Solo, or Core Duo (and Celeron M processors with the same Family/Model) will all be affected. There are only a few hundred still active, and the workaround of manual installation will be needed by the owners who want SSE2x. Sten got it right, and though I'm sure he'd have preferred a mention of the issue in the readme I feel that document is already as detailed as practical. Joe |
